OK, but expensive for what it is.
Advertised as a winter base layer and the roll neck might lead you to believe that is the case. However I don't find this particularly warm. It's not all that thick so it lets the cold through to the skin which if you're sweaty can make you quite cold. I'd stick with the regular merino base layer with a neck warmer.

Wonderful product with small question mark
I have 3 of the 100% merino base layers and love them. This one isn’t made out of merino but the fit is nice, tight and the long turtle neck makes it cozy when the temperatures drop. Works well for -5 through 2C. My only concern is will this develop some smell after a few washes due to its “plastic” material structure or not. The merino layers are odor free after 4 years of intense use. I’m not sure how this one will fare. Otherwise a lovely product.

Comfy, warm and breathable.
Great base layer, comfortable and warm. The high neck really keeps the cold out. Very breathable so comfy even if you’re working hard. Wore at 0-2•c with aero jersey, gilet and snood felt fine. As per other reviews it’s quite short which feels odd at first but fine when riding. Does come up a little snug, because it’s not as stretchy as the jerseys in the pro range you may want to size up depending on build and how tight the rest of the products are.

Great kit. Worth it.
Bought to replace a polo neck Rapha winter base layer that was falling to bits after 4 years for faithful service. This thermal base layer, so far, has been superb. The dimples wick really well without getting clammy and works well when teamed up with a good quality winter jacket. I've been using the base layer with temps down to 5dc and it's been good. The high neck is great for pulling up over your chin and keeping your ears warm. :-) Recommended.

Very warm and comfortable
I bought this to stay warm in the winter months of Ohio, this paired with a normal, non-cycling jacket have served me well. It's fabric feels good on the skin, there's no irritation or chafing. It's warm but it's also very breathable so it's not windproof at all, it doesn't say that it is but I feel I should mention it. I wouldn't recommend wearing just this when you go riding unless it was around 60°-50° Fahrenheit. Any colder than that and you should pair this with something. My only complaint is that the neck piece, it can be pulled up to cover your chin. But I can't get it to stay up very well, it won't stay covering my ears, for instance. It will stay on my mouth but I wish there was a bit more coverage. However this could have just been from the size I bought. You might want to size up and see how that works. But otherwise, good product.

PRO TEAM THERMAL BASE LAYER - LONG SLEEVE
This base layer is worth the money, it has kept me warm throughout the winter and enabled me to ride without having to wear half my wardrobe each time. This baselayer, paired with a winter jacket and insulated gilet does the trick. The combiend extra neck material works as a snood saving having to wear a separate one. Only diwnside is that it can feel slightly restrictive on ckimbs, but ibjust unzip the other layers a little.

Warm, perfect fit and quick dry
I've been using Rapha product for about two years now. Every piece is better than the other. Was very happy with summer pro team base layer - sleeveless. Got this one, as i read good reviews. Had a perfect opportunity to test it. Had over 200 km ride starting early in the morning and finishing right before sunset. Lowest temperature was 6C, highest 19C. I wore it under classic long sleeve jersey and a pro team lightweight rain gilet. Felt perfect in the lower temperatures. In the afternoon there was a steady 15 minute climb. Had to open every layer, got pretty wet, but on the top of the climb there was a 15 minute break. Dried super quick. Was very surprised. Later in the afternoon, when the temperature went above 16C, I removed the gilet as it was getting too hot. Without the gilet it was perfect.
I got S size, i am 189 and weigh 73 kilos. Fits perfectly.

Very warm and effective piece of kit
Very warm base layer, initial impression when the order arrived was that it would not be as warm as the Rapha merino base layer i had been wearing. I was surprised how warm it was given how lightweight it is, rode on a -4 cold day with Rapha Winter Jacket and was not uncomfortable at all. The fit is tight but lots of stretch on the fabric, my winter kit is typically medium, the top was medium. I am 170 cm tall and 71kg.

Nice, well worth having.
I like this a lot. Was sure to size up as per other reviews. its fitted and normally I would wear a mesh layer under, but not with this one. Feels really nice against the skin too.
Its surprisingly warm and does a great job dumping XS heat and moisture esp after efforts. You're always comfortable. I think you could use it for cool to cold rides, depending on how you want to layer it.
Nice, well worth having.

Satisfied purchase
Bought black version in XS (I am 5’4” and 57kg). Good fit and felt shorter in length than usual so you may wish to size up as very tight. Arms slightly longer but can be folded without issue. Collar is main reason for purchase and works well in deep winter. Expensive product but functional - ideal purchase in the sale as seems bit over-priced otherwise. Same effect possible with cheap neck tube.

Very warm. Very comfortable.
Very comfortable and needed accessory for rides that will remain below 45*F. The form fitting fit ensures that this base layer fits nicely under your heavier layers without feeling bulky, and it noticeably outperforms its weight in terms of warmth. The attached neck warmer is very appreciated on freezing mornings as well. Turn your cool weather clothes into freezing weather clothes with this piece.

Stylish performance base layer
So far, I have used it just once during a 0° to 10°C gorgeous sunny winter ride in combination with Pro Team Long Sleve Thermal Jersey and Pro Team Thermal Vest.
Light and Warm. Maybe too warm when temperature raise above 5°C.
I like the long neck good to cover chin, mouth and nose during dowhnill.
In my opinion performs at best below +5°C.
It matches my high expectation from a Rapha product.

Comfort zone
Tested surprisingly well over last few cold mornings. I'm not a fan of cycling jackets as getting sweaty underneath no matter how cold outside. This top enabled me to feel very comfy with a jersey, armwarmers and a windshield gilet despite sub 0 temps and the most importantly stay dry. Only some room for improvement i could see in the collar as runs fluffy and looks messy - but surely works well.

Super products but weird sizing
I love the product but the size is very surprising. As a base, this should be close to body but long to avoid when you bike or run, this is going up. This is unfortunately not the case. But XL would be certainly too big..

The hottest thing I've ever worn
I love this top. I had seen a couple of reviews that said it wasn't long enough at the waist and, OK, if I was wearing it with MTB shorts it may be an issue, but it tucks into my tights and leaves me with no exposed skin. More importantly, it's the hottest thing I've ever worn. I wear it daily on a 12 mile commute and, having always layered up, I've dropped to this and a S/S jersey.

Great top
I’ve only worn once on quite a cold damp breezy Scottish winter day (5 degrees, feels like 1 degree). Wore it under a shell jacket. Felt nice and toasty. The polo neck design is good. Most of my tops leave my neck bare. You can also unfold it so it covers your mouth in a very cold day. Pleased with the quality. Sizing guide was good for me. Delivery could’ve been a bit quicker.

Superb fabric for warmth! Sleeves too long though.
I simply adore this warm under layer and love the neck coverage. I have used it twice in cold weather (4-6 degrees C) and have been delighted with the warmth and wicking. However, the sleeves seem to be about 2 inches longer than anything else that I own from Rapha. Is this a design flaw? How can I get them adjusted? I am reluctant to just bring it to a local seamstress.

Exceptional base layer
I don't have too many base layers to compare this to however when the temperature is low this is the one I reach for and the built in neck warmer means I don't have to bring my buff with me. It's proving fine in the British cold weather coupled with a good winter jacket from another brand I've never felt cold on the torso.
It's so good I've just ordered another one!

Nice garment but watch the sizes
I am 39 - 40 inch chest and bought XL. Too small, but the replacement procedure was simple and efficient. Got the XXL fine. I've never been XXL in any other brand (except Catelli). That aside, comfortable and warm enough with one additional base layer for zero degrees riding. It's the long neck that makes this great. Combine with a balaclava and your all set.

Great base layer
I needed another base layer for the winter, having had a few Rapha base layers I decided to go with this one. I'm glad I did. The longer neck is good when I have forgotten my mask and need to stop in a shop for something mid ride. The base layer is very good at keeping me warm without feeling like I'm overheating when the road starts to tilt upwards.

Great fabric
Great fabric love the style except for it being super short in the torso. I do not have a long torso so usually all tops reach past my waist easily. This top is 4”short . I guess Rapha wanted to safe money on fabric.

Don’t be fooled by the look of the neck
I really appreciate this thermal base layer. When it’s cold outside it really keeps me warm. The long neck is interesting, I can pull it over my ears or simply let it around the neck. Again, I bought a large size instead of the medium according to the size chart (I think the Rapha size chart is one size under what we’re used to in North America).

Yes, you do need this!
This is such a necessary piece for cold weather riding. I layered this with a PT long sleeved training jersey and the PT insulated vest on a longer ride at 30 F and stayed comfortable the entire time. I wanted to see how affective the base layer was without a jacket and it did not disappoint. The extended neck is a really nice addition!

Super warm!
I’ve tried a few thermal base layers over the seasons and finally have found the perfect one! Instantly warm on putting it on, really comfy, good sizing including a little extra length in the arms to bridge those gaps between arms and hands. If I had a suggestion it would be to include a zip on the neck to allow a bit more versatility.

It’s a must for winter in Northern California
After a few long rides in winter when the temperature fluctuates throughout the day, this baselayer performed really well. The collar is so useful as it keeps your neck and chin protective from cold and believe me, you won’t be sorry when you feel comfy and your friends cold. I’ve noticed my HR was lower. Outstanding baselayer, period.

soooo warm
Currently living in Chicago, if you've ever been here from October - November you know it can be brutally cold. I wear this with a long sleeve jersey and a Brevet Wind Jacket every time I ride and I don't feel the cold at all. When the wind is really blowing you can pull the collar up over your face/chin to help keep the cold at bay.

Excellent layering piece for cold rides.
Superb layering piece for cold weather. Keeps you just about in the sweet spot most of the time. Not an easy task, considering climbing vs fast flat have a huge temperature variation. Very impressed overall. Fit and quality are superb. The collar to neck cover to face cover is a great idea and works well. Would definitely buy again.
