Majority Recycled Materials
A selection of products that use majority recycled materials or organic natural fibres.
Frequently Asked Questions
What percentage of recycled fabric is used in the Majority Recycled Materials range?
Products in our Majority Recycled Materials range contain at least 70% recycled fabric content. We chose to set this threshold deliberately high to ensure these products deliver a meaningful reduction in environmental impact compared to virgin fabrics. By maximising the use of recycled materials wherever performance and durability standards allow, we can help reduce reliance on virgin resources, lower our greenhouse gas emissions, and divert waste from landfill.
Are recycled polyester and nylon as durable as virgin polyester and nylon, and can they achieve the same performance benefits?
Yes. The recycled polyester and nylon we use are engineered and rigorously wear tested to match the high-performance standards of our Pro Team and Training ranges. By sourcing fibers made from post-consumer plastic bottles and industrial nylon waste, we reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions without compromising the moisture-wicking or aerodynamic properties required for elite cycling.
How does Rapha ensure the welfare of animals in its wool and down products?
We are committed to 100% transparency in our natural fiber supply chain.
Wool: We only source wool from farms certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which ensures land management and strict animal welfare (mulesing-free).
Down: All down used in our insulated jackets is certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), guaranteeing that the feathers are a byproduct of the food industry and that no live-plucking occurs.
Why does Rapha still use synthetic materials?
High-performance cycling kit requires specific technical properties such as stretch, compression, and durability that natural fibers cannot always provide alone. Rather than abandoning synthetics, we are transitioning away from "virgin" (new) plastics. We have committed to reducing our use of virgin synthetics to 20% or less of our total material volume by 2030. Read more on our materials here.
How can I make my Rapha gear last longer?
The most sustainable product is the one you already own. To extend the life of your kit, we recommend washing at low temperatures, using a wash bag to catch microfibers, and avoiding fabric softeners. If your kit is damaged in a crash, we offer a Free Repair Service to keep your favourite pieces on the road for longer.
