Description
Riders and racers looking for warmth in cold conditions often have to compromise on speed by wearing a bulky, protective jacket. Not so with the all new Pro Team Insulated Jacket, a close-fitting, cold weather outer layer, which uses Polartec’s extraordinary Alpha insulation, for class-leading warmth without the volume of down. It is highly breathable, ensuring you don’t overheat during harder efforts, and fast-drying and hydrophobic, meaning the jacket won’t hold moisture like natural down insulation. A DWR-coated, windproof front keeps your chest warm, while the stretch fabric on the back allows body heat to escape and ensures a close fit.
Updated with an improved fit, the jacket features longer sleeves and a slightly wider waist. Riders looking for a more relaxed fit are advised to size up. The jacket has three pockets on the back for storing valuables, and the double-ended Vislon zip provides easy access to your jersey pockets or to help you regulate body temperature. All the features, just not at all durable
Bought this jacket looking for a warm, semi-waterproof jacket that was well constructed and had a double zipper which I think helps regulate temperature really well. The jacket fit well and was comfortable and warm. The lining is so soft. However, the material is NOT durable at all. On my first ride with this jacket I had a section of material on one of the sleeves tear while taking it off. Frustrated that this was brand new, I emailed rapha asking if they could repair it. Instead they offered me $90, a far cry from the cost of this jacket. All in all, the jacket fits well but the material isn’t made to stand up to wear and tear.

Very good!
I used the jacket together with nothing else than the pro team thermal base layer at temperature of 6/7 C and it did the job. The jacket keeps you warm and blocks wind. I am impressed because its very thin and light and you would't expect it keeps you warm at low temperatures. I used it during 65-70- k rides in january, in the end your back will get a bit cold because of the moisture. The jacket does not prevent that.
I wear size m (I am 1.72m/69/70 kg), my regular size, but it fis tight. On the other hand the jacket must fit tight; looks better, aero and I guess the performance is better when the jacket is close to your body.

Thin but super warm!
Bought this jacket after wanting something warm but packable - boy am I impressed!
When I first unwrapped it I was dubious about its heat retaining properties, but riding to work in near zero degrees one morning with a long sleeve jersey underneath I was convinced - blocks wind beautifully and keeps your core and arms perfectly warm. If needed, will pack into jersey pocket easily. Way more versatile piece of clothing than a thick, heavy winter jacket that you can't take off.
Warning - order one size bigger than your normal Rapha size as arm cuffs are pretty tight.

Light and warm for dry, cold conditions
Nice, warm, stylish jacket that you can wear in low temperature (near freezing with the right layers) that will keep you warm, and yet if you get TOO warm you can pack it in your jerseys rear pocket, which is quite extraordinary for an insulated jacket.
I have yet to test it in extreme wet conditions. I have found that the fabric will keep you dry for very light rain (think a quick mist or wet fog) or road spray, but it is not a waterproof jacket by any means.
So I'd recommend buying this one if your looking for a VERY lightweight, insulated, warm jacket for those DRY cold days. If you plan on riding this in the rain, you should get a different jacket.

Not the usual fit
Pros: great insulation, thoughtful details, impeccable finishing quality
Cons: not the usual fit from Rapha - slightly flappy around biceps, mega tight around wrists (as noted by some other users), and quite tight around waist. The light blue colour is also slightly more faded than as per the photos.
All in all, not quite disappointed because it does insulate/breathe as promised, but hey we've come to expect a top-notch fit and overall 5 star rating from Rapha.

Wish I’d got this sooner
I’m a big fan of Polartec Alpha, it’s warm yet light and packs down well. This jacket is fantastic for temperatures down to just above freezing when riding in dry conditions.
Despite other reviews I find the fit excellent, the cuffs fit well and aren’t too tight and the sleeves are the right length. The cuff design also provides a nice interface with gloves - it’s a double cuff and reduces cold air ingress.
The back of the arms and back panel aren’t insulated, this is probably sensible but I’d be even happier with some light insulation in these places.
I wear with the PT thermal base layer and add a PT thermal jersey if it’s sub 5 degrees C.
Overall - excellent.

Holds the sweat in
Beatifully made. Very light and totally windproof. Wore only a merino base layer below it on a 1 degree temp, 3 hour / zone 3 ride in a light wind and the lower part of the front of the jacket and arm cuffs were soaked in my sweat. As a result it had gathered around the front and thighs of my bib shorts. If my ride had a coffe stop I suspect I'd have gotten cold quickly. Maybe a non merino / synthetic base layer would have shifted the sweat better but the jacket didnt live up to its breathabikity claims. Dissapointed.

Excellent fitting jacket except for the sleeves
This jacket is excellent. Very light and very warm. For me it's much better fitting than other Pro Team jackets as it slimmer round the waist so I don't have to downsize so something that's a little snug round the chest and a little short. The slight problem is that the sleeves are very short. It's not so bad with a winter style glove that covers most of the wrist just something to bear in mind. Paired this with a matching gilet for fill winter coverage.

I'm wearing the medium size of pro team jersey and bib. (170cm 78kg) Can I decide this same size as medium?
All the items in our Pro Team collection share a very similar fit and cut, and therefore I would recommend the same size as your jersey and bib shorts.

Very happy after 1 year of use. I would like to use DWR spay to ensure this is as much as possible water proof for my next bike packing - could you please confirm we can use any dwr spay with it ?
You may use a DWR Spray to enhance the water repellency after a year of use.
We recommend Nikwax, but you may use another brand if you like.

It depends on what other garments you pair the jacket with. We would recommend wearing it in -2 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Actually, we would recommend this jacket for riding in 50 degree weather.
It's a bit insulated and helps block out wind but it's not too warm that it will make you hot.

I don't see any mention of this jacket being packable, does it pack down well?
Hello, because of the insulation used for this item it is not bulky and should still pack down small enough to fit in most jersey pockets if you need to shed layers during your ride.

Most of the reviews with low ratings concern bad durability - especially the seams on the arms, which seems to tear for some people. The reviews are a few years old. Have these things been fixed/changed or is the product still the same?
This is indeed something our team has resolved. A few things contributed to these issues. Firstly, the jacket is designed for an on bike fit -- meaning it can be tight in the shoulders when standing upright. Additionally, it is intended to fit very close to the skin. We recommend figuring out your perfect size to avoid any issues with the shoulders or arms ripping.
