Gore-Tex Care Guide

A comprehensive guide to washing and caring for your GORE-TEX cycling garments to help them protect you better and last longer.

Gore-Tex Care Guide

Taking good care of your GORE-TEX garments helps them protect you better and last for longer. And when you know what to do, it’s quick and easy. For almost all GORE-TEX fabrics, the care process is the same. The only exceptions are those with persistent beading surfaces e.g. GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ garments.

How to wash your GORE-TEX Garments

How to wash your GORE-TEX Garments

Step 1: Prepare

Fasten the front zip, all pockets, and any loose velcro flaps or straps.

Step 3: Wash

Machine wash at 40°C (105°F) with a small amount of liquid detergent, such as Grangers Performance Wash. Rinse twice and keep spinning to a minimum. Don't use powder detergent, fabric softener, stain remover or bleach, and don't wash it with heavily soiled items.

Step 3: Dry

Tumble dry on low heat for 10 minutes to reactivate the DWR treatment.

How to Re-apply DWR treatment

How to Re-apply DWR treatment

Step 1: Check and reapply.

If water no longer beads and runs off after washing, reapply a durable water repellent (DWR). We recommend Grangers Performance Repel Plus, but any pump-spray or wash-in DWR product will work.

Step 2: Reactivate.

After applying, tumble dry for 20 minutes to reactivate the DWR treatment. If you don't have a dryer, iron the dry garment on a gentle setting (warm, no steam) with a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron.
