Winning combo of warmth, softness, elasticity
Let's start here: my feet always get cold even in cool, not even cold, temperatures. Plus, I ride throughout the winter in NYC. So, I need to do the best I can, since it is always just a matter of time before my toes feel icy. I've tried numerous variations: thermal cycling shoes/boots; various brands of socks; shoe covers, even stick-on foot warmers, and all of the above. For warmth and fit, the Pro Team Winter Socks have become my go-to choice. I also use the Deep Winter Socks for under 28F days, but these do the trick on your average frigid days! I like the combination of warmth, softness, length, and elasticity; other merino cycling socks I have purchased are not as stretchy and don't sit as comfortably on the upper ankle. I use three pairs in heavy rotation and none have shown any wear yet after about 10 uses each.

It's a pair of socks
I'm reviewing a pair of socks - I never thought my life would be this empty.
But they are a very nice pair of socks - I wear one on each foot and they do the job

Allow sizing to shrink
Warm socks that have been durable thus far. I am a 43 and sizing recommends a medium, but I went with large as from experience, these heavier wool types of socks shrink or become less stretchy over time. This has been my experience. Initially the socks fitted too big, but now after several wears and washes, they are perfect. I'd put five stars if the sizing reflected this experience.

Excellent winter socks
These are great! They are thick enough to keep you warm but not too think to be uncomfortable in your shoes. I've been able to stay warm enough down to 5 Celcius, which is way cooler than I've managed with any other pair of socks (including Sealskinz).

Pricey which disappoint upon use, beyond the eye!
Not so warm; quite thin and negligible weave so not so insulated. Quite short too. First wash -as instructed- left a few baubles. Toe box and heel quite thin. Nice looking but I’d question appearance over performance; I have other sport wool socks which have bulk / mass, which perform thermally better. Pricey for goods which disappoint upon use —beyond the eye.

Feels warm and fits comfortably
Well made. Simple. Soft to the touch and feel great in a cycling shoe. Premium material fits comfortably. Warm and dry in winter temperature

A great winter sock.
The Rapha XL size socks is the only good sock I've found that fits my size 12 feet without being tight on my toes. They are also high quality socks. Very warm too. With these plus toe covers I can go down to 30 degrees F and my feet are still OK.

Poor quality
These socks were really of poor quality, unworthy of the reputation of Rapha. I have worn them only twice before the left sock had a hole. Would not recommend this item!

How tall (long) are these socks? What is the exact length of a calf?
The sock leg length, based on a size M, is 17 cm and changes by 1 cm between sizes.
