Tested during the 2015 Transcontinental, a 4,000km journey across Europe, they are made of an innovative blend of merino wool and PrimaLoft®. Medium-weight in thickness for warmth and comfort, the merino wool offers moisture-wicking, breathability and anti-bacterial qualities, while PrimaLoft® guarantees a soft, smooth feel and dries quickly. A handy benefit for tourers is that the fabric is quick-drying, so you can wash and dry the socks overnight, while Rapha has also added a highly reflective yarn stripe to keep you visible. For added comfort and to stop blisters, there is a soft terry-cloth section under the ball of the foot. These versatile, durable socks won’t let your feet down.

Bizarre material and stitching
I have a pair of Brevet socks from two years ago that are my favorite riding socks, period. So I ordered another one, and what a disappointment. These don't even feel close to being the same material. These are a lot more stiff, less stretchy, and feels uncomfortable. It's a lot tighter and doesn't feel like it is made of the same softer, merino blend--not even close. The strangest part is that the very top of the socks, the black section above the first stripe is so poorly stitched that it isn't even straight--it slightly overlaps with the reflective gray line. It's insane. I am starting to believe that Walmart buying Rapha was a horrible event, intended to cheapen the product and increase profit margins. This is in no way the same product as I bought earlier.

Love these socks
I have a few pairs of these socks now and have been using them for the last couple of years. They are just a very good all-round sock and have always been comfortable and long-lasting. I also really like the little band of reflective material at the top of the cuff and I think this cannot be a bad thing in low-light conditions. One small downside is that they are reasonably tight at the top of the cuff, so they do leave 'dents' in the bottom of my calf after having them on for a while; although, it is hard finding any cycling socks that do not do that. Well done Rapha on an excellent, albeit largely forgotten part of kit.

Excellent!
I own a fair few pairs of Rapha socks and these are a firm favourite in most weather. They are a little thicker than the pro team socks, which helps when you are wearing the climber shoes in cooler conditions, but seem to handle heat really well. Comfort is typical Rapha and the quality is high, wash after wash they look great. Worth noting the little reflective strip really shows when car lights hit it.

Ultra comfortable
A sock is a sock, however these are pretty comfortable, which is no doubt due to the Merino blend. After a warm day in the mountains, they still felt pretty cool.
The only negative I have is with regards to the durability. A good amount of bobbling had appeared after just a one ride and at that point, they had not been washed. Time will tell.
All in all, they are a great looking pair of socks. I believe that they adhere to the Velominati Goldilocks principle.

Mallorca 225
I bought these socks over a month ago and left in a virgin state until the Mallorca 225. I have to say that over the course I encountered hot spots on both feet for the very first time, coupled with a hole appearing over my big toe on my left sock. I also hit a personal best for both distance travelled and elevation gain on said ride.
Having taking everything into consideration, it was a monumental day out. The socks kept me cool and dry, even with the hole. The hot spots were due to my old feet and I'm confident that Rapha will honour the repair costs associated to the wear and tear absorbed on the day.

Aren't they supposed to match the jersey?
Well, first impression is not good. The navy socks are a completely different color than the jersey. It's not even close to a match, more like a light shade of washed out blue-grey than the dark navy color of the jersey (jersey seems great btw, other than the fact that it's made in China). I have yet to wear the socks so can't comment on performance but I'll only likely wear them with jeans and sneakers. Would not have purchased these if I knew they did not match. Sorry Rapha.

Polyester look and feel
Supposedly these contain merino wool, but the feel and performance is like plain polyester. Not especially comfortable, not especially absorbent. Several washes improved them a little.

What size do I need for a UK 9. Also would the Teal match the classic shirt in Teal
Hi, for a size UK 9 we suggest a Large, and the teal colour will be very similar but not exact as different materials talke on dye and loose the colour differently. They were designed to match so they will look great together.

Hi, yes these socks can be worn also in warmer weather as they are made with Quick-drying, anti-bacterial merino-PrimaLoft® blend guarantees a soft, smooth feel and dries quickly. Though we would not suggest use this in extremely hot weather countries. For that we suggest our lightweight socks.

I'm a UK 11 in regular shoes and a 12 in sneakers. I like my socks to be snug so they don't bulge but don't want them to cut off my circulation. Do these socks have enough stretch so that I can go with a size L or would you recommend a size XL? Thx!
Hi, it seems you are a true size 11 in which case we suggest buying the relevant size which in your case is the Large. Specially taking into consideration what you mention on your fit preference.

Trying to match the current grey green lightweight brevet and last Fall brevet long sleeve in grey w/ pink stripe. Would I want the Dark Grey sock or the Grey/Chartruse? The latter looks like it has more of the grey green in it?
You may prefer the Grey/chartreuse sock to match the garments that you would like.

How would you compare the thickness of these socks vs the normal merino socks? About the same, or would these be a bit thicker?
Hi, both socks are constructed using 42% Merino Wool, 40% Nylon, 18% elastane and as such a similar weight and thickness.
