TEAM AMANI

Weaving prints and performance.

In East Africa, cloth is culture. Patterns and materials are passed through generations. The knack and the know-how, transferred from one pair of hands to the next. For Team AMANI’s 2026 kit, we dove deep into this legacy of printing and weaving to capture the beauty of the craft on the canvas of our finest performance apparel.

Coefficient of Kanga

Proven aerodynamic apparel, enriched with the legacy of East African printing and materials. From the Kanga of Kenya to Congolese Kuba, via the Imigongo of Rwanda.

There are many inspirations from all the riders’ countries on here. For me, it’s the pattern called Imigongo from Rwanda, traditionally printed on fabrics, it special to have that represented.

Fresh Threads

The 2026 collection is inspired by the multi-hued magic of East African fabrics and the craft traditions that bring them into being. These techniques reflect centuries of craft, a tangible legacy of the region. Today, we’re paying tribute to that past, while propelling AMANI’s athletes into the future.

Eyerusalem Haftu Reda - TEAM AMANI

“The new AMANI Rapha kit is very unique. The yellow flowers on the shoulder feel particularly special as in Ethiopia they represent our New Year as part of the Ge’ez calendar”

Across the capsule you’ll find recurring motifs representing sunshine, peace and energy. The flower Adey Abeba, an emblem of Ethiopian New Year (Enkutatash), is used in repeating patterns across garments. A visual hook with a deeper history. Look closely and you may even find an intentional irregularity or two, in homage to the authentic humanity of hand-woven textiles.  The sharp tones of the collection are achieved by taking natural dyes as a base and tuning them up to a contemporary high-performance palette.

The mix of green, blue and red reminds me of textiles used in Uganda, pulling tradition into our team design. The flowers are very recognisable to all of East Africa. I’m excited to wear them all year.

Destined for greatness

Team AMANI is not afraid to swing for the fences. The programme has enjoyed plenty of off-road success already in Africa and beyond. Now, the project’s freshly-minted UCI Women’s Continental team aims to replicate that on the road; their stated aim is to reach the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift by 2028.

The Cowrie shell carries an ancient association with prestige and power, having served as a sacred currency across the continent for centuries. Inspiration for the floral crowns came from the Surma people of Ethiopia, who wear flowers and natural elements as headpieces to show pride, beauty and identity.

Deep Roots

Deep Roots

For this collection, we wanted to deepen the regional connection through visual design. We looked to the foundational materials of East Africa, specifically Sisal, which remains a staple across Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia for the crafting of traditional attire. Its presence in our story as a flower-shaped headpiece serves as a tribute to the craftsmanship and textures that define the region.
