Toasty Warm
The Pro Team Thermal Base Layer is exactly what I have been looking for. When it gets to 0 degrees C or lower and I want the option of covering my face from the chill, this top is ideal. Compared to those neck-warmer thingies that I have used, the versatility is great and so if/when the temp rises, being able to roll the neck down rather than having to remove it completely is ideal (I realise this is a 1st world problem, but it is simply a better option). The top itself is toasty warm and I have used it with a t-shirt and a jacket at 0 degrees and below and stayed warm the whole ride. As per other comments, I would like to see it 5 - 8 cm longer in the body, but having said that it is long enough to do what it is designed for. Sizing is spot on relative to the website sizing chart.

Best Baselayer ever!
When I received it, I thought there's no way this will keep me warm. I had to only wear it one to realized how awesome this is. The ride started in a cold morning 35º and finish in a cozy 43º the base layer was comfortable enough to wear it at both temperatures.

Quality baselayer
Very happy with this product. Feels very comfortable as soon as you put it on. The quality is superb. The inter grated neck/buff works perfect. When it’s chilly just put it up and when it warms up roll it down and doesn’t get in the way. Also when doing efforts it never feels wet or cold even after been sat in the coffee shop. 1 very minor issue is that it comes up a little short around the torso but once you have tights on it doesn’t become a issue really. Overall money well spent and extremely happy

Great design.
Great overall product. It's the right thickness, the sleeves are long. the torso is long to ensure coverage. Fantastic styling (i bought the pink one) and the stretch neck is fantastic. It can be adjusted to your riding conditions. It is wonderfully warm.

a pure joy in cold conditions
I really suffer with a bad neck following an accident. A merino collar can be to warm and become damp and then cold this base layer is just perfect. Keeps you warm with minimal bulk and the neck can be pulled up and down as required. Fantastic produce.

keeps me warm and dries quick
I bought this to alternate with the deep winter base layer on slightly warmer days. It keeps me perfectly warm when paired with the winter jacket. Its very light and dries quickly. As with most of the pro stuff it runs small so size up.

Rapha thermal base layer
Was bought this thermal base layer for xmas present. On first viewing it seems really soft matetial but very thin. The arms are long but the body length is slightly on the short side(i am 6-1"). I have worn this top under a winter wind proof top in conditions down to zero. The wicking properties are great & once you have warmed up, the Rapha top keeps your body temperature at the optimal level. A fantastic bit of kit, which i will never go out riding without in the winter months. Great buy *****

wonderful lightweight warmth
Really gorgeous hue and fantastic lightweight performance piece. I bought a men's small and I'm a slender lass and do not like "compression" or looking like a wannabe superhero/faux pro or feeling like a sausage. This is fitted without being defining. I like functional but lighter versatile pieces for self-supported touring and this serves beautifully. The collar is tight & I definitely cannot wear it over my face but it's excellent to have the extra fabric around my neck when the wind kicks up.

Not as "thermal" as I expected but practical
I've made it work from around 5 to 16 degrees C using different layering (base layers, gillets, etc). Great for those days when it starts off chilly in the morning and heats up in the afternoon. You will want a gillet or wind jacket or something when it's cold because it hardly keeps out the wind.
The fit is nice and tight and looks sleek as you would expect from proteam. I get a bit of strange wrinkling on the arms, maybe something up with the sleeve length.
For reference: 178cm, 71kg, size S

Surprisingly warm for a non bulky base layer
The cut is great, the fabric feels really nice against the skin, and as much as I love merino, extremely warm yet very breathable. Perfect for higher intensity workouts on cool or cold days where it performs better than merino.

Perfect 3 season layering baselayer
Warm, cosy, breathable, slim fit but runs up a size. I’m an XXL pro team, but take an xl in this. High collar replaces my merino neck warmers perfectly. It also regulates heat really well, I haven’t got a better baselayer.

Amazing garment
This layer does not feel as synthetic as I was afraid it should. Very comfortible in temperatures below 10 c. Tight fit overall but especially in the lower arms. I use a size medium and I’m 181 cm/72ish kg.

THE BEST WINTER BASE LAYER EVER!
Once winter hit and the beast from the east came i needed a base layer to keep me warm and dry. As nothing stops me cycling. This is probably the best piece of cycling kit i've ever bought. Chapeau Rapha.

awesome thermal layer
this is a great thermal layer that provides warmth at near-freezing/and slightly sub-freezing temps. I've worn it alone with a vest and underneath a jacket/long sleeve jersey when it's very cold

Highly functional and durable
Wonderful base layer, light, very warm and durable. A miracle fabric. Worn on every cold winter ride, or about four to five times weekly this season. The high collar (or long, unstructured neck) is a huge boon to keeping the wind out and can double as a half face shield. Tucked into the balaclava it seals out cold. The snug fit layers easily. Highly functional and exceptional quality. Six ft tall and 156 lbs, slim build, size medium. Love this essential piece of my winter gear.

Warmest baselayer I own
Very warm baselayer, definitely a "winter only" piece of clothing, as it's so warm. Does the job it is intended to.
I deducted a star for the long collar situation. Although it is nice to have something that covers your neck, I have found that it's not quite long enough to be used as a Buff and cover your face. Which means that you'll have to wear a buff...Which means that you're kinda getting choked by the baselayer + jersey + buff combo around your neck. Otherwise good product.

Warm and a great fit, as usual!
Warm, good fit and the neck provides a decent wind block. Quick drying during mid ride cafe stops too. Sizing was as expected for other pro team items.

Thermal
Sizing is true to size - if you wear a large jersey buy a large thermal. Nice and warm under the long sleeve core jersey to around 2 deg C

Abundant warmth: lightweight, smartly designed
I was surprised how thin the Pro Team Thermal Base Layer seemed when I first got it, thinking that this would never keep me warm enough on 30F/-1C rides, which has become the norm for early mornings in NYC, along the breezy Hudson River. I was wrong! This shirt is surprisingly effective -- upper body warmth has not ever been a issue when coupled with a Core Winter Jacket. On one 18F (feels like) morning, I also used the merino base layer, too, but that might have been overkill. I love the long neck, which I regularly pull up to my chin and high in the back. With this feature, I find that I have to use a balaclava much less. For me, sizing has been perfect: I chose the L, same as my jersey size (I'm 6ft0in/183cm, 180lbs/81.6kg), and it's a good snug fit under a jersey or jacket. No issues getting my head through, as some have said. The shirt seems short compared to the merino base layer, but this is a non-issue under any type of bib; it has never ridden up in any riding position. And, I like the long sleeves, which do shrink somewhat over time. I pull them down to double cover my wrists under long winter gloves. I am about to buy my second one! Highly recommend.

Finally, a winter base layer that keeps you warm
This is a fantastic base layer that you need in your winter wardrobe.
Super warm - paired with a jersey and training jacket kept me warm in 0-5 degrees.
Close fitting - didn’t have to size up, but you probably should if you’re between sizes.
Some other reviews said that they couldn’t get their head through the neck. Whilst it’s snug, this wasn’t a problem for me.
The extra long neck is a really nice touch, so you can pull up when the weather really starts to bite.

As promised
I have an active winter life. I often ride more in the North East Winters than summers, go figure - from winter hiking to ice climbing and, of course, biking. Hear has to super versital to deal with 25 degree swings during a day to evening. MTB on weekends & road during the week. this piece is exactly my mantra “light is right”. The warmth to weight ratio is great. I have two winter jersey/jackets that fit tight so layering up is not an option, this works well down to (so far) mid 30s with castelli alpha & an ASOS winter shell- forget what they call it. I do have a silk weight over shirt (trap warm air) below 40F. I do wish it was not 100% synthetic plastic material, may pill up or not wear well and not sure the face cover part is practical as it has bunched up making zip neck closure hard. But all in all worth the scratch. Runs a bit large compared to other Rapha pro stuff.
