Reminds me there is a way to ride!
Never had a lesson and after 2 years experience thinking I knew it all was so pleased I got this book. Been reading in the sun and then using what I learn in the evening ride and embracing that which I used to dread. Road obstacles and how to approach them, descending and climbing better. However good you think you are.......read this book!

Great entry level book (including the books 2-4)
It's a nice and quirky book which is great for entry level cyclists. The problem with most books out there is that they seem to be too aggressive with HD pics of pros riding as hard as they can; so this book series is very welcoming. However, it could be slightly messy in structure - the flow of ideas are a bit messy and would maybe require someone to rearrange some learnings on their own notebook or something. I also have the rest of the books (2-4), and I feel like their numbering is misleading - as someone who wants to get valuable info to start me off, I skipped out on reading the second book because longer rides were not too important to me as much as the the book about being independent. Overall, great entry books, but MAYBE (I'm just one person and I didn't ask what other people think) a bit not aligned with the thought process of a beginner.

Quirky but good overview
The technical information is pretty good, the social advice is okay, the personal advice (e. g., what to eat for cycling) is, to me, rather add and quirky, sometimes inaccurate (all energy food bars, gels or drinks are just sugar), sometimes cumbersome in real life (making your own electrolyte drinks), and sometimes laughable (stick a banana (top cut off) or a handful of nuts, or something equally odd, squishy, or perishable, in your jersey pocket. An amusing but not very helpful read.

Fun and informative read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The content is fantastic - even if slightly UK centric with regards to weather, shops etc. Highly applicable and very helpful, not to mention funny! I am new to road cycling and this was the perfect intro that I needed in the absence of a cycling buddy.

Fun book to cover some of the basics
Nice book for when you're beginning or just started a few months ago. Liked it so much I also ordered the second book on Longer Rides. Also, this book comes with a discount code to allow you to order some Rapha on the cheap, so get this even if its only for the discount!

Short and Sweet
Pretty basic but easy to read and I enjoyed the illustrations. I think this would make a good present for someone starting out in road cycling. I also appreciated the beginner offer discount code you can obtain after purchasing this book.

Good book
Good, informative book even for a more seasoned cyclist. I’ve always been a mtb rider but over the past year or two have started more serious road riding. This book is useful as a guide to most areas of the bike etc.
