Warmth at work

The combination of warmth and racing performance is tough to achieve, because insulation usually results in a bulkier garment. The Pro Team Long Sleeve Thermal Jersey is both fast and warm. The jersey fabric is a slightly thicker version of the current Pro Team Long Sleeve Aero Jersey, and has a fleecy brushed back inner for on-skin comfort. The jersey is cut in our Race fit, and it should be reasonably tight to ensure nothing flaps in the wind and slows you down. Further speed advantages come in the form of bonded back shoulder seams, with none at all on the front, as well as a new rear pocket construction that lies completely flat when not filled – you’ll cut straight through the wind. Designed for winter training when skies darken earlier, there are reflective elements all over the jersey, as well as headphone loops, and an easy-use Vizlon zip.

FEATURES

  • Made of a high-stretch and breathable performance fabric
  • Inner has been brushed back for soft comfort onto skin
  • Reflective armband and bars on wrist and rear pocket
  • Full length, easy-up VISLON® zipper for easy, one-handed adjustment
  • New triple rear cargo pocket (with breathable mesh inner) sits flat on back when not in use
  • Headphone loops up the back seam

FABRIC

  • 81% Polyester
  • 19% Elastane

Body sizing

Chest: measure underneath the armpits with the tape measure straight around.
Back Length: measure from the bottom of where your collar sits/base of the neck to the bottom of your spine.
Arm length: measure from where the seam would start at shoulder to bottom of the wrist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good performing winter jersey Was sceptical as this seemed quite thin but performed superbly in 2-10 degrees with just a base layer. Functional well fitting jersey. I am 69kg and 180cm. Medium good fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really like this top The top works perfectly on cold days, and we get some of those in Yorkshire! Right product for the season a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I would say that extra large is fairly snug on me, so be careful about reading the size guide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, looks For me this one works between 5-15 Deg, it must be used with brevet gilet under 10, when it's perfect combination unzipped uphill and zipped downhill. Below 5 deg it works as a middle layer with winter jacket. Soft against skin, very thin but still warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit, Superior Fabric, and Visibility Qualifications: I ride Daily in Mountain Terrain, 4 Seasons. Was looking for a jersey to use a my climbing outer layer (maybe a vest over it) to keep moisture low, and avoid freezing on the descents, and would fit under a Winter Classic Jacket. Sizing: I'm 5'11" 155lbs 41" Chest and 34" Inseam and I chose a Medium Fit: Medium fits great, race fit close but not biding anywhere. No belly sag, Function: Wicks great, did a good job keeping me dry with a pro team base layer underneath on a 1,000 meter climb at 145 heart rate in 32 Degrees F. Visibility Rocks, I feel seen and safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb but when to wear it? Excellent autumn or spring top but fairly limited opportunity to wear it as it's not too warm or not too cold. Much better off with softshell or short sleeve with arm warmers. Fits same as other PT wear - one size up from classic. But really well made and nice feeling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thin but fast Very pleased with this new jersey. At first I was slightly concerned with how thin it was compared to previous pro team ls jerseys. I ride up in Scotland and as such receive a fair beating from the weather. I have used this jersey constantly since purchasing it. The fit is fantastic. It feels very fast. Its defiantly a jersey to be worn if riding at tempo. Perfect for layering on chillier rides or if riding at a lower intensity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some Pros/ Some Cons This is the first Rapha product I have bought and thought ‘is that it?’. You get very little for your money here as it is a very thin material which besides a nice handfeel and good stretch, has no technical properties. At 5’11”/ 29” waist and 35” I went for my usual size S. Here are some pros and cons (to be honest my score should be lower as there are more cons!): Pros: -detailling (merde pump loop and glasses wipe) -Fit in sleeves and most of body -Colourway (navy for me) -High collar Cons -baggy pocket area leads to some sagging under load. Not helped by super stretchy fabric. - Rear hem rises below the pockets (this happens on most pro team products and drives me mad). -Material too thin (yes you can mix your base layer up to suit the conditions but c’mon, it’s ridiculously thin). -No technical properties to fabric. -Poor finish on print (mine is speckly) it also looks cheaper that cut n sew panels and heat debossing. -Zipper is yet again ‘raw’ at the bottom. All old PT jerseys had the hem folded over the bottom of the zip. This not only looked better/made the product seem more premium, but also stopped the sharp plastic damaging bibs. Vislon zippers work beautifully but clearly need design refinement. The double ones are even worse as my PT jacket and gilet are super sharp (even after filing) and wreck bibs. I hate to say it as a long time advocate of the brand, but this is another Rapha release that is making me consider other brands. The product looks great on the surface but has major flaws that make it not worth the money.

I just ordered the aero love Ng sleeve jacket in XXL but thinking of changing to pro long sleeve mid weight or the pro long thermal jacket. What size should I get in those 2 jackets. I assume thermal is warmer

Asked by: Gentrymen
Hi, thermal jerseys and jackets will be warmer but the Aero Jersey is a good one to wear with a base layer underneath a thermal or insulated jacket as it is streamline and it will fit well underneath another race fit garment. As for sizing do stick to your original size and should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused garments with tags and in saleable condition.

His does this compare in fit to colourburn jersey, do you need size up as that jersey?

Asked by: npcrawley
Hi, this jersey is similar in fit to the standard Aero Long Sleeve Jersey. If you usually size up on the Aero Jersey then we suggest you do the same with this jersey model, should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused and with tags garments.

Would the new Pro Team Thermal jersey work well with the new Pro Team Thermal baselayer for high intensity winter riding in 2-10degC? Appreciate we all regulate temperature differently but need a rough working range.

Asked by: BarkerD
Hi, if riding at high intensity in 10ºC you may find this combination to be a bit to warm. Though great for long rides at a slower pace. It does depend not just in how well you regulate temperature but how much do you feel the cold. I'd say for training at approximately 2ºC to be good, but for nearer the 10ºC you may find you will be ok with a mesh merino base layer.

How does the warmth of this jersey compare to the gabba short sleeve? I'm after something a bit warmer than the gabba.

Asked by: Rob K
Hi, this jersey is warm enough to use it in very cold weather conditions when combined with the right base layer and race cape or gilet for where waterproof is need.

Hi! For which purpose should I choose this Pro Team LS Thermal Jersey and for what purpose should I choose the new Pro Team Training Jacket? I have doubt which one to buy for 2-3grs autumn/winter base mile training?? Cheers!

Asked by: Egsgaard
Hi, both these garments are good for Autumn/Winter base miles in cold weather conditions. You may find that with the Thermal Jersey you may require a good base layer and perhaps either a race cape or gilet dependent on weather conditions. For the Training Jacket you will most likely just require a good base layer and jersey if you do tend to feel the cold a lot, if not a good long sleeve base layer should suffice.

is this garment supposed to be worn directly on the skin or over a baselayer? Does it dry quickly? Would the brevet insulated gilet be a good combination on top ?

Asked by: Ceriel
Hi, we always advise the use of base-layers as they work wonders at extracting sweat away from your skin. Drying will depend on weather conditions and this garment does not require a gilet unless riding in very cold weather conditions.
