Race ready insulation for the coldest competition

Riders and racers looking for warmth in cold conditions often have to compromise on speed by wearing a bulky, protective jacket. Not so with the all new Pro Team Insulated Jacket, a close-fitting, cold weather outer layer, which uses Polartec’s extraordinary Alpha insulation, for class-leading warmth without the volume of down. It is highly breathable, ensuring you don’t overheat during harder efforts, and fast-drying and hydrophobic, meaning the jacket won’t hold moisture like natural down insulation. A DWR-coated, windproof front keeps your chest warm, while the stretch fabric on the back ensures a great fit, as well as letting body heat out. The jacket has three pockets on the back for storing valuables, and the double-ended Vislon zip provides easy access to your jersey pockets or to help you regulate body temperature. Whether you’re training hard or warming-up pre-race, this is a game-changing new product.

FEATURES

  • DWR coating keeps the worst weather out
  • Stretch fabric on back ensures a great fit and lets body heat out

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a well done insulated cycling jacket I justbwore this for the first time on a 45ish degree (F) windy day in Seattle. The jacket kept me comfortably warm and I only overheated slightly on a 10 minute climb when the sun managed to peak out through the clouds for a bit. This was the upper temperature limit for this piece; probably ideally suited for 30-40 degrees F. The day was dry, and I do not think it would do very well in steady rain. Wearing a rain cape over would probably be prohibitively warm, unless a very cold and wet day. I am 5'9" and about 145 pounds. I am right on the border between S and M in Rapha, and the M fits well in this jacket. There is room for baselayer and jersey, but it still has a race fit with minimal extra material. There is some flapping in the armpits on decent. Sleeve length was perfect for me (many have complained too short).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Jacket I was initially dubious about how warm this thin jacket could be. I was looking for a piece of kit that I could stuff into a water bottle or a back pocket on a cold climb, and then put it on for the descent. I'm glad I'm wrong about it -- its really warm and far smaller packed than any other jackets. Temperature range for me is from 32F-50F for this jacket, and it blocks wind really well. A combination of zipper down, or zipper from the bottom up regulates heat well. The cut is really race cut, even more so than other pro team products. I wear a small in all other pro team products, but this one needed a medium. Also the arms are fairly short, I think they're meant to be short so they don't bunch and stay aero. Not really a problem if you have gloves that cover your wrists. Only thing I could ask for is more variety in colors, the burgundy one is nice enough though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite jacket This thing is amazingly warm. I ordered on a whim, just to see if the insulation was a gimmick or real. I can assure you, it is VERY real, and very warm. When paired with a baselayer I've been comfortable (read: warm) at 38°F. The fit is is great—not too loose and leaves some room for my extra offseason lbs. My one critique would be the arm length as they're a bit short on my (admittedly, long) arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unblievable! It is hard to imagine that a jacket that is this lightweight can be so warm. I paired it with the Rapha long sleeve net base layer and was very comfortable in temperatures ranging from the low forties to the mid fifties. It also fits like a glove and has great style.

Hi, this jacket will be great for this type of temperature range combined with a warm base layer such as a merino long sleeve base layer.

Hi. As the cold weather is setting in I'm after a jacket/jersey with a primary function of keeping me warm but could withstand the odd shower. I'm not talking heavy rain. Could this be the answer paired with a jersey and base layer. Thanks. A

Asked by: AHW13
Hi, this jacket would most certainly keep you warm, though it is not fully waterproof. From what you mention above we suggest the best to be the Pro Team Softshell Jacket and second option the Pro Team Training Jacket.

What is intended to wear beneath this top? Just a merino base layer or jersey also?

Asked by: Maxrwill
You would be expected to wear a Jersey also underneath this Jacket.

How small does the jacket pack down to - can it fit in a rear pocket?

Asked by: AS23
Hi, the folding down on of this jacket will depend on how meticulous you are but you should be able to do a fold and roll, so that it slides into the middle pocket.

i bought this jacket (small) and the arm length comes up short. It doesnt even reach my wrists by at least 3-4cm. Is this meant to be like that? My proteam softshell jacket also a size small fits perfectly.

Asked by: Train Harder
Hi, the sizing of this jacket should be in keep with our usual Pro Team sizing but of course some garments will vary according to design. This jacket will fit slightly different to the Pro Team Softshell which is a slightly longer in overall length.

Pro Team Training, Pro Team Softshell, and now this? Seems like a lot of overlap; how does one choose? Could this insulated jacket be worn under a Hardshell for those super gnarly days? Up here in the Northland of Minnesota for reference.

Asked by: Tommy Everstone
Hi, You could use this jacket under a hardshell or even carry a rainproof gilet or Race Cape for those days when it is cold and also very wet.

The arms look fairly short - How are they compared to the Pro Team Jacket? Do they have cuffs? And could you fit them outside a pair of winter gloves?

Asked by: PelleNilsson
Hi, the fit of this jacket is in keep with the current Pro Team garments available on our website. The cuffs on this jacket is as seen on the images.
