A peaked cap for cool weather training

The Peaked Merino Hat exists to keep the squally rain of autumn from stinging your face, the low sun of mid-winter from dazzling you, and the chill wind of early spring from freezing your skull. Winter training isn’t meant to be easy, but neither should it be a test of your survival skills. Made of an insulating and high-wicking merino wool with the addition of lightweight windproof fabric at the front, the pared back design is intended to fit comfortably under a helmet, keeping you warm without overheating. Ear covers keep the cold from taking hold of vulnerable ears, and a short peak is carried over from traditional summer cycling caps.

HEAD: Measure the circumference of your head above the eyebrows and the tops of your ears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect winter hat This is my new favourite piece of Rapha cycling kit, the high wool content and form-fitting design make for a snug and cosy head - I am reluctant to take it off! I have a large head and it fits me fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To cap it all... Comfortable, warm and well fitting Fits well under a helmet and the small peak does a great job of keeping the rain out of the eyes Recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your ears are covered Yes, this warm high tech hat covers your ears and permits training at ease. My left ear has one hard spot from previous frost bite and the new hat is a welcomed item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful mid-weight winter hat The Peaked Merino Hat is among my favorite winter hats, and has replaced my old Giro wool hats of roughly the same design. This hat has generous ear protection and is deep enough at the peak that it extends past the edge of your helmet, ensuring a proper fit. I'd say that for most people this hat would work well into the low 30s F (~0C).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite winter hat I much prefer this to the deep winter hat which didn't really covers my ears completely and was quite bulky. This merino hat is very streamlined and stylish. It's nice and light, and deceptively warm. Seems like it's the only hat I'll need for winter.

Does this have a gap for a ponytail? If not, when will Rapha incorporate this into their design?

Asked by: Es72
Hi, as this is a unisex hat, it does not have a gap for a ponytail.

Which is warmer, the Pro Team Winter Hat or this? Is the difference significant?

Asked by: Pasifist
Hi, they are both very comparable and use will be down to personal preference, I would say the Merino Peaked Hat will be more highly breathable and softer and perhaps just a bit cooler than the Pro Team Winter Hat.

Hi, what’s the difference between the peaked merino hat and the insulted hat? Which one is warmer?

Asked by: Rubijazz
The front panel is made from a windproof fabric and the rest of the hat a lightweight insulating Merino, whereas the Insulating hat is made from a wool blend and is heavier in weight
