Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Winter Shell Balked for a bit at the price, but eventually took the plunge. Couldn’t be happier with it. Went with the orange for better visibility on the road. It is a subtle orange rather than a neon one. Nice reflective details as well. Ample front and rear pocket storage. So far it’s has performed well in 25-40F temps with only a short sleeve or long sleeve technical shirt underneath. Completely wind and waterproof. Breathes as well as as any high end Gore-Tex shell would, but under hard efforts you’ll be soaked with sweat but warm. Only negative is the white vertical stripe on the back. That’s ripe to stain after the first foul weather/muddy ride.

I’d been coveting this jacket for a while and at the price was wondering if it was really worth it or if I could muddle through with different layers. I finally took the plunger determined to ride through a UK winter in this oddest of all years. What a game changer this jacket is, paired with the rapha winter gloves you actually forget about the weather. All weather. You genuinely do not feel the cold or the rain. I’ve worn just a base layer underneath on milder days or layered up with a long sleeve jersey when there’s been a heavy frost. Torrential rain doesn’t penetrate. It really has been a game changer for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ride outside regardless of the temperature I have one of the original Rapha winter jackets which was great for its time. This version is light years better. It blocks the wind, without the bulk allowing much more freedom of movement. While it blocks the wind it does allow sweat to permeate out the back preventing that "chilling" effect usually experienced when riding outside. I have been on rides as cold as 23F/ -5C with a mesh base layer and a choice of merino turtleneck or pro team training jacket. This has cured me of being a weather wimp. Please apply this technology to shoe covers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect cold weather jacket The jacket is beautifully made; the outer fabric looks and feels excellent. I was surprised that Rapha decided to use only two zippered vent areas, both on the chest. A venting system for “pits” and something for the rear would be nice too. The wrist closures are perfect for closing around gloves. The tabs on the chest vent zippers are quite small and difficult to impossible to find while riding with winter gloves. I ride a lot. I appreciate the bright color for safety. The gore-Tex breathes well enough to wear this jacket for most cool to very cold conditions. I sized the jacket up for layering The jacket is a joy to put on. All in all with additional vents this would be the perfect jacket for winter riding.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm Jacket, but stains too easily (everywhere) I have this jacket in orange. It's a beautiful color and exactly what I needed for hi-viz. The Gore-Tex also does a great job in blocking out the wind and keeping my core warm with a base layer & mid layer down to 20F (10F windchill). I'm giving it 3 stars only because I was riding in the rain for the first time, and saw some drops of mud (or road debris) had dried on the underside of sleeve, and I couldn't get it out no matter what I tried including the care instructions. Now, there's a smudge where I tried to clean the mud off unsuccessfully. I've seen comments that the white reflective tape stains easily if left dried, but I didn't think the Gore-Tex fabric of the sleeve would stain too. For such a high price tag, I'd expect to have the fabric not stain so easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch jacket Remarkable piece of kit. This is quite warm, I’ve only ever used it with a base layer. However I have ridden in pouring rain and on very cold days. It performs brilliantly. In heavy rain you eventually get a bit wet via the seams on the arms but otherwise a lovely protective cocoon. In the cold it allows you to warm up and the chest zips work well in regulating the temperature. If you need more air obviously the main zip allows that. I have it in bright orange which gives me a bit of confidence in those gloomy winter months when visibility is poor. I genuinely love this jacket, it’s first class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superhero Levels of Protection from Winter Weather Amazing jacket for cold, wet, windy winter rides. Good fit. Excellent wind protection. Excellent water protection. Zipper pockets on the front work great for temperature regulation and holding items that need a little more security. Comfortable to wear with a couple layers underneath like a long sleeve jersey and thermal tshirt. My ONLY concern is the small zipper which peeled apart from the bottom the first couple times I wore this jacket but hasn't happened since I learned how to properly use a zipper. I LOVE THIS JACKET.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted in a jacket This is now my favorite piece of kit. It blocks the wind and rain, and keeps me warm even though I wear it over just a merino base layer. I've been wearing it on hard rides with the temperatures in the upper 30s-lower 40s. The jacket does an incredible job of blocking the wind. When I get too warm I unzip the front a bit. The two pockets in the back hold what I need. I would prefer three pockets, but the two are enough for tools, snacks, and keys. Finally, it looks great. I got it in orange.

I don’t own a tumble dryer. Is there an alternative way to reactivate the waterproofing?

Hello, as you said, you can then tumble dry to reactivate the DWR finish. Hello, With the measurements you have provided I see that you are in between sizes according to the size chart. The small will probably work for you unless you like the fit of your kit a little less form fitting.

Hi im 5'10 in height with 100cm chest, 100cm hips but here's where the medium may not fit. Im 90cm waist. So would a medium work or would i have to opt for a large? Thanks

Based on your measurements. We recommend a size M for this jacket. The actual waist measurement for the jacket in a size M is 102 cm. The measurements listed on the size guide are simply a guideline of approximate measurements we recommend for each size.
