Striking a balance between the freedom of shorts and the coverage of tights, our ¾ Bib Shorts use a brushed Thermoroubaix fabric with a Thermolite fleece lining to ensure maximum durability and comfort in mild conditions. For improved weather protection, the fabric is finished with a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment while the bib uppers are made from a breathable mesh material to prevent overheating. Developed for sustained comfort on day-long rides, the bibs feature our Classic chamois pad, made from several layers of quick-drying foam with an antibacterial top sheet. Flatlock stitching throughout prevents chafing, and the shorts are secured in place by elasticated grippers that provide optimal compression. Reflective logos on either leg improve visibility to keep you safe even when riding in low light.

High Quality, Warm 3/4’s
These are built well and fit as expected. As usual the pad is too notch also. They do not bunch up behind the knee like some cheaper brands. Just two drawbacks for me. First of all the straps are a bit short and not very stretchy. They really tug on my shoulders. Secondly, they are quite insulated, making the temperature range lower than I would like. They work fine from 40-55 degrees. At around 60 degrees they start feeling hot and don’t seem to breathe. At 65 I start thinking about where I can get some scissors! Don’t get me wrong, this is a quality product and could use a tweak or two.

XXL a misnomer.
Bitterly disappointed! Have used the 3/4 bibs for many cool winters in the PNW pretty much as an essential item. 6’tall 200lb stature and with no change to that over last 15 years. XXL fit beautifully. No more! I can’t even get the latest iteration on and if I could the straps wouldn’t reach my shoulders. Rapha has both cheapened the material and ruined the cut of it to the point of being a joke. I called CS and the lackluster response was “sorry, there’s been no change , you can return them”. Obviously I will but that leaves me without 3/4 bibs. Talk about ruining a good thing.
NB am going to try one more shipment of XXL to see if something had been mislabeled.

Just what I needed
Ideal piece for the transition from shorts. After a few years of going from shorts to winter tights. I always disliked the adjustment period of having the thick winter tight leg bottoms hitting the chainstays. This piece solves that perfectly. Really nice and refined soft thin fleece lining. The perfect weight. The breathable mesh upper is light and tight, you won’t know it’s on bc you’ll never think about it. The seat pad is nice quality. As far as the fit is concerned, I’ve always been either a L or XL. I prefer smaller bottoms to minimize movement. Definitely the right call for me. But fyi it is a snug fit.

Well made but runs small
Runs a bit small and fabric is not as stretchy or thermal compared to the Pro Team tights. I fit perfectly in the RCC Pro Team tights in size M. However the 3/4 bids felt so much smaller that I actually checked to see if I bought a women’s M. Usually the Pro Team sizing is the most form fitting but not the case here. I would also like more reflective elements like the previous version of the bibs.

Two rides with these shorts, and already the seams are coming undone, and a weird beading has happened in the external fabric of the seat area that I’ve never seen in bike shorts before. Astonishingly poor quality for the price point.

My new favourite piece of kit
These are my new favourite bibs. I have Pro bibshorts, Pro biblongs, Explore Cargo bibshorts and Core Cargo bibs and the 3/4 bibs are the comfiest of the lot. They are so cosy to wear and I find the pad is the comfiest too. I would love some shorts with the same shoulder straps as I think this is a big part of why they are so comfy along with the Roubaix fabric. I had to size up as they are very compressive and on the small side. I didn't find the leg gripper tight but I have skinny legs. These are going to replace me wearing shorts and knee warmers in the colder days of the Autumn/Spring shoulder season and probably the less cold Winter days too. I'll probably end up buying another pair.

The best 3/4 bib shorts on the market by a mile.
I waited a long time for these to come back into stock. The two pairs I owned for 6 winters were still in great condition but too big so were passed on to friends. The new ones were worth the wait, Rapha have managed to improve on an already fantastic product. Super comfy, warm and fantastic quality as always from Rapha.

Built with purpose
The 3/4 Bib Shorts had been on my wish list for nearly a year, and after riding the Festive 500 in them, I can say they have proven to go beyond my expectations in terms of comfort and protection. I am 6'4", weigh 164 lbs, and went with a size medium.
The compression of the bibs is spot on, and while they needed some initial fit adjustment before riding, they stayed in the place. I was surprised at the length of the inseam, which can be dropped a few inches if needed; I have long legs and was able to keep the length right over the middle of my calf muscles. The fleece lining was personally ideal for weather between 30 and 60 degrees F.
I'm interested in the full-length Classic Bib Tights later on, but the 3/4 Bib Shorts have so far very much delivered coverage during fall and winter. With the right layering, riding in the winter can be easier, and these bibs play a very indispensable role.

Can you wear the 3/4 bib shorts without a base layer? The fleece backed thermolite lining won’t itch/irritate skin?
The fleece backed thermolite lining should not irritate your skin.
If you have extra sensitive skin we would recommend pairing this with a base layer.

Is the DWR coating on your MEN'S 3/4 BIB SHORTS PFC-free?
The DWR coating on the Mens 3/4 Bib Shorts is C0, so doesn't contain PFC chemicals.

These tights are insulated and we would not recommend them for hot temperatures.

Compared with with the Core winter tights, which of those will be the warmest? Is the fit of the 3/4 Bib shorts the same as for the Classic Bib shorts?
The fit of the 3/4 Bibs is the same as the Classic Bib Shorts. We consider the Core Winter Tights a bit warmer as are a bit longer and they cover your entire leg.
