Extremely warm Argyle-style socks for the coldest conditions

Rapha Deep Winter Socks have been created for extremely cold riding conditions. They are made from the same merino-rich blend as Rapha’s Winter Socks but have been designed with additional protection for the coldest days. The socks are cut long and have a thick, wind-resistant panel that runs the length of the shin. The main footbed is padded for extra insulation and the toes also have an additional wind-resistant facing. The Deep Winter Socks are extremely versatile and can be worn beneath tights on training runs, or beneath trousers on the city commute.

The socks have a subtle and stylish Argyle construction and the breathable natural fibre wicks sweat to keep your feet dry. Flat handlocked stitching in the toes prevent seams rubbing. The socks feature a pink line graphic around the top of the foot and pink and white stripes around the top of the leg. The socks have a Rapha logo tab on the cuff, while the inside cuff features Rapha block text which is only visible when the cuff is folded down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Know what you are getting If you are looking for a no-messing around deep winter riding sock for far northerly or deep southerly riding in the absolute coldest conditions, this is the ticket. The only issue is that the foot is as thick as the calf fabric, meaning you will need to adjust the volume of your road shoes or pick another shoe. That said, when I go out for a 90-minute fat bike ride this afternoon when it will be -30' F wind chill, these are the only socks in my drawer that will be making it on my feet, and my feet will as a result be fine. Typical Rapha styling, which for me is a plus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm, long and a bit too thick Had my eyes on these for a few years now. Finally took the plunge this year. We had the cold winds from Siberia hit the Netherlands, bringing the temperature to -5C with windchills up to -18C. I commute to my work on a race bike every day and these work well. They are noticeably warmer than my other merino socks. I was surprised by their length (they come up all the way to my knees). Putting them under winter Rapha Pro bib is a bit of a mission but still doable. Also, their thickness means my toes are now cramped in the Rapha Climber shoes, not within comfort limits for the 2hrs on a bike per day. I have size 47 and took the XL which seems slightly on the bigger/looser side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty warm! Great socks - really warm. I found that they are a little too long for me, slightly rubbing on the back of my knee unless I remember not to fully pull them up. For reference I bought Large, I'm 6'0 tall with a 32" inside leg and size 44 shoes. I probably should've gone medium but it's only when you get out on the bike that you realise these things.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too long for comfort These socks have been keeping me warm down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit (even when it is damp at that temperature). So they definitely do what they promised and I have never had a sock do that for me. But the long shin sleeve really bothers me during the ride. It is very long. I communicated with customer support, hoping it will be significantly shorter on a smaller sock, but they told me it will not. It is so long that it passes my knee. I am 6'1" and of normal build. I end up having to fold the top over my calf, and over a long(ish) ride that pinches the back of my knee and is overall cumbersome. It is enough to make me not recommend these and I am actively looking for an alternative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty socks/leg warmers Now the weather has turned colder especially on my early morning rides the cold weather gear has to come out to play . The Rapha deep winter socks are superb at their job , keeping feet warm and comfy . Being so long and with their wind resistant fronts they also act as a barrier to the cold on your legs , in my case almost up to my knees . I imagine i will get long service from them as they look very well made . Typical Rapha really .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toasty toes.... and legs You don't need another pair of socks, right? Wrong! If like me when you fancy a quick spin in the colder winter months and the thought of spending longer getting ready than the actual ride length will be, then think about adding these to your wardrobe. A pair of merino legs, pair of your usual bib shorts and then these I'm ready to roll within minutes and stay nice and warm while doing so. Enjoy some toast-toes.....

Superbly made, to the upper calf in height and cozy warm like a roaring fire. Out on a ride in balmy 32F temps they came through in flying colors once again. Washing in cold water and air drying netted no shrinkage whatsoever unlike a few other reviews I read. Typical Rapha greatness and at $35 are a steal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so impressed Sadly this is the first Rapha purchase that I've bought that I've not been happy with. The socks appear to shrink every time I wash them. I've tried stretching them when they are wet, but they are becoming increasingly difficult each time to pull on. I can't believe that you would sell socks that require hand washing. I'm only washing them on 30 degrees, but they still seem to get smaller each time. I have the shorter version, and they are fine, but sadly these longer socks are not so good.

Is it suitable for -2 to -4 degrees? Is it keep toes warm?

Hi , I am a size 8 in U.K. Shoe size , I wear a size 43 cycling shoe in lake or specialized . What size sock would you recommend as a medium goes up to size 8 but the large is 8-11? Thank you

Hi, for sock sizing I suggest you go for the size that falls within your shoes size as it is not the same as sizing for shoes. We suggest you go for the size Medium.

Hi, these socks are thicker than normal cycling socks but we did have cycling shoes in mind when designing them. As always we do have a free 90 day returns policy if they don't fit.
