Extremely lightweight, windproof and packable cycling jacket

The Classic Wind Jacket is designed for temperate cycling conditions, cool morning starts, descents and sudden showers. Utilising a lightweight stretch nylon fabric and streamlined construction, the jacket delivers exceptional freedom of movement and comfort against the skin. Bonded seams and hems were chosen to provide further weight saving, and help to create a clean aesthetic. A low-profile bonded chest pocket with a bonded zip keeps small valuables secure, and mesh inserts that run under the arm seams aid ventilation when working hard on the bike. Reflective tape on the arms and reflective logos offer an element of visibility, and a mini popper prevents the jacket billowing when unzipped. A direct applied silicone gripper on the hem keeps the jacket in place, and when not in use, the jacket packs down small enough to fit into a jersey pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed Great bit of kit, very packable and lots of nice touches such as sealed cuffs, good size collar, offset zip. Great cut on the bike, a little flapping in the wind but not much. I bought a medium and am 178cm, 73kg with a 40inch chest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit Does what it says, you feel comfortable for all day riding, fit is spot on, great bit of kit..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect all purpose jacket. Have wanted one of these for ages and love it. I use it for commuting and mountain biking. Light and smart and packs down nice and small. Nice details to the cuffs and reflective sections on sleeves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A better option Bought this as an upgrade to my past classic wind jacket. I have used my past one well but always felt it was bulky to roll and pack and could be better in light wetness. The new model seems to hit these two points exactly. It feels lighter, packs tighter, material has more water resistance yet feel lighter and softer. A real win for sure. If you pre snap inside the zipper, you can open the zip on a ride and not have it flap so much, also zip back up easily. The sleeves are a bit long like my past model, not sure why this is compared to other jackets Rapha sells. Fit is standard to the classic or brevet line and possibly trimmer than it was in past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket ever Perfect jacket for cool weather and/or light rain. Fit is amazing so there is minimal flapping. Cuffs are simple but block weather well and offset zip is comfortable on chin. Surprisingly breathable. I can't fault it!

Just received this jacket.  How should the fit be around the waist?  Should it be snug around the waist or loose?  Just received the XL and it is big.  I'm 6'2" 180 lbs and unsure if I should order the M or L.

Asked by: MM305
Hi, unfortunately for us fit is not just dependent on height and weight but mostly on each body shape and customer's personal preference to how customer's prefer garments to fit. With jackets you should allow for room to be able to have your jersey pockets stuffed with the usual ride needs such as spares, food etc.Should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused and with tags garments.

I am new to biking and the fit of its clothing. I am 5'10 and about 200lbs. What size jacket do you think I should order? Thank you.

Asked by: 45sr
I would suggest an XL size based upon these dimensions. We do have 90 returns policy should this garment not meet your suitability.

I have the older version of the rain jacket (cream) in XL which is coming to the end of its days. How does the sizing and waterproofing compare? Love my old rain jacket. It it's time for an update

Asked by: Sionp
The sizing will have a relaxed fit. This garment will be water resistant and has several features about it that enhance these such as taped seams, water resistant cuffs and DWR treatment. This jacket is however designed for temperate cycling conditions, cool morning starts, descents and sudden showers.

which would offer more warmth and protection in changeable conditions, this garment paired with a base layer and a classic long sleeved jersey or the pro team soft shell? Ideally I need something that is suitable for changeable conditions on hard rides.

Asked by: MRRUF
The first combination would give you more versatility, but if your rides are higher tempo in changeable conditions, a Pro Team Base Layer and the the Pro Team Soft Shell Jacket would be more suitable to what you require

Some of the desc. appears to be from the original jacket such as a bonded zip on chest pocket (clearly now sewn), taped shoulder seams, waist drawcord. Does it have a waist drawcord, as it has now been removed from the classic gilet which is a shame?

Asked by: zcomms
The Pocket on the Chest is bonded to the fabric. Some features are carried over from the previous version and there is a drawstring waist to adjust the sizing

i want to use this for commuting to work, but carry a backpack with change of clothes etc- is it sufficiently robust to be worn like this on a daily basis?

Asked by: somb
This jacket is of a lightweight design. The jacket will be robust but may show some signs of wear and tear if carrying a backpack on a daily commute over time.

Really struggling to decide on size, have tried the core in medium, felt too big and small fitted but no room for anything in pockets. Is this cut different to core rain jkt. I'm 5"7 and 68kg

Asked by: Crezza
This garment has a relaxed fit. I would suggest the Small size would be an appropriate fit based upon the dimension that you have presented.

Does this jacket packs smaller than Pro team race cape? Does it pack in to its own chest pocket or do you need to pack it "loose"? How you compare it to Pack jacket?

Asked by: Climber2
This garment the jacket packs down small enough to fit into a jersey pocket. It is a robust and durable Wind Jacket and can be backed neatly into a rear jersey pocket.
