Rated 5 out of 5 by Louwee from Perfect Temperature regulator I've been wearing this Merino cap on my daily dawn patrol rides in California. At the start, the ear flaps are down and the cap envelops my head is just the right amount of warmness! As the ride progresses, I simply flip up the ear portions to cool things down. In addition, the front face of the cap is made of nylon and provides ample wind protection. If you prefer the brim up, I find I can fit the brim of the hat in my helmet which makes the hat into more of a beanie. If you decide to take it off altogether, its packs down really small and weighs nothing in the back of your jersey. Key piece of kit; highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Neild7800 from The winter hat I’ve been looking for I have a couple of peaked winter hats that I've never been completely happy with, this one ticks all the boxes. Its light and thin so fits easily under a helmet, and the merino wool makes it very warm, breathable and comfortable. The peak is just the right length and doesn't obstruct the view and the clever use of a different fabric at the front of the hat helps to keep off the worst of the weather. Looks great in the dark navy to match my pro team jacket. Also isn’t plastered in logos, nice and understated. Sent from my iPad

Rated 5 out of 5 by Flynner from My favourite winter hat I much prefer this to the deep winter hat which didn't really covers my ears completely and was quite bulky. This merino hat is very streamlined and stylish. It's nice and light, and deceptively warm. Seems like it's the only hat I'll need for winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by galavoxx from Maximum Luft! This is my new favorite hat for Fall and soon to be Winter weather here in San Francisco. I used to wear a Rapha cap with Rapha Merino Headband underneath to get the same effect. When this peaked hat came out, I had to try it. The hat has very little bulk and fits perfectly under my helmet. It has a a smaller bill than a normal cap and like the merino arm and knee warmers, it's soft and feels oh so nice. The wind panel at the front really works and if your ears start to get steamy, you can fold the ear flaps up. The best part, it has major casual luft to impress your friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Helios from Your ears are covered Yes, this warm high tech hat covers your ears and permits training at ease. My left ear has one hard spot from previous frost bite and the new hat is a welcomed item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Worstcase from A wonderful mid-weight winter hat The Peaked Merino Hat is among my favorite winter hats, and has replaced my old Giro wool hats of roughly the same design. This hat has generous ear protection and is deep enough at the peak that it extends past the edge of your helmet, ensuring a proper fit. I'd say that for most people this hat would work well into the low 30s F (~0C).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Trev1234 from Brilliant winter hat I brought this a hat a month ago and it has proved to be an excellent purchase. I don't like heavily insulated winter hats as I get too warm and sweat too much. Being Merino wool, this is ideal. It is light, comfortably fits under a helmet with no bulk and the ear coverage is great, with the ability to fold up the back and sides if not needed. The windproof front is more than sufficient and if it does get very cold, then it can be layered with a winter collar, which will give the extra back and side coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Octogenerian in lycra from Perfect for Autumn I already had a Rapha winter cap - ideal for really cold conditions, but too warm for those chilly autumn mornings when this lighter cap is perfect. With soft Merino wool to cover the ears if required and its windproof front panel it provides all the warmth that is required, yet is so compact that it fits under a helmet with room to spare. The peak is just large enough to extend over spectacles without obscuring vision whilst the 'one size' suits me perfectly. Very well designed and worthy of recommendation.

Is there any design / lettering on the underside of the peak and can the peak be turned up?
This hat has minimal branding and does not feature logo on the underside of the peak

Does this have a gap for a ponytail? If not, when will Rapha incorporate this into their design?
Hi, as this is a unisex hat, it does not have a gap for a ponytail.

Which is warmer, the Pro Team Winter Hat or this? Is the difference significant?
Hi, they are both very comparable and use will be down to personal preference, I would say the Merino Peaked Hat will be more highly breathable and softer and perhaps just a bit cooler than the Pro Team Winter Hat.

Hi, what’s the difference between the peaked merino hat and the insulted hat? Which one is warmer?
The front panel is made from a windproof fabric and the rest of the hat a lightweight insulating Merino, whereas the Insulating hat is made from a wool blend and is heavier in weight
