Cold weather warmth, more than 10 years in the making

The Women’s Classic Winter Jacket is our most versatile bad-weather jacket, redesigned for the needs of the modern rider. An evolution of our Classic Softshell and Hardshell, it is the ideal garment for winter base miles, with the ability to withstand the harshest conditions on any kind of ride. Cut from Polartec® Power Shield Pro® fabric, it combines wind and waterproofing with incredible breathability, efficiently transferring moisture vapour away from the skin while keeping the elements at bay. Added underarm zips allow for increased ventilation when the temperature, or the intensity, rises.

Designed to be used across a range of winter temperatures as part of a layering system, the Classic Winter Jacket features hi-vis detailing for riding in low light, as well as taped seams, waterproof zips and elastane inner cuffs to keep you comfortable and dry, whatever the weather.

“… With so many features, you might wonder if the jacket is bulky, yet it’s not in the least. Instead, the jacket’s design is so finely tuned, you might forget you’re wearing it, except for the fact that it’s enabling you to ride comfortably in extreme weather. It’s such amazing attention to detail that has earned Rapha the right to claim cycling clothing’s throne. Few cycling garment purchases are so satisfying.”
Kelly Hobkirk, Bikept.com

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every single penny, this jacket is fab! Fits wonderfully and the detailing is as well thought out as all other Rapha products. Super warm, at 3 degrees the other morning I just had a thin merino wool long sleeve layer underneath and I was too hot by the time I got to work. So happy with this jacket. Looking forward to winter riding!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Jacket You've Been Waiting For! The day after I received this jacket, it was thoroughly tested in some downright biblical, frigid downpours. Held up like a champion, even about an hour straight. All things considered, after that ride, only my arms were a tad damp. Far better than I would expect of most softshells. This fabric is the real deal: breathable, soft, durable, and highly water-resistant. It also insulates well on cold mornings (so far haven't tested it lower than about 4C/40F), but the lack of warming lining does cause my arms to get really cold while out on long rides in rain (windchill isn't your friend). Since the lack of a lining was one major reason why I got this jacket, that minor issue is easily solved by wearing a long-sleeve jersey or arm warmers. This is the jacket you've been seeking. As someone who doesn't subscribe to the "cult," per se, believe me: this product is incredibly well-made, equipped, and ready for your two-wheel adventures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality quality quality This jacket is expensive let's face it, and I made the investment expecting a lot! I am Commuting in this jacket because it looks great, I can wear it off the bike and not look like a high vis cyclist all day... and today I wore this in a 100km sportive. It rained for about half the event, and even though I was tackling some pretty testing climbs I didn't overheat. So it's brilliantly waterproof, it's not boil in a bag and it looks superb. Some people invest in a turbo trainer. I invested in this jacket. It's excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit & very warm I bought this for our minus 2 deg morning rides and it is working a treat. I only wear a long sleeved merino thermal underneath and I am very comfortable. I love the fit, it sits really nicely and doesn't ride up. If you were travelling you could even wear it casually. The only down side is that black doesn't stand out for traffic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Jacket I absolutely love this jacket! It was very expensive, however, It keeps the chill off my chest on those early morning rides. I only have to wear a short sleeve jersey underneath it. The zippers on the side allow great breathability. I wear this on and off the bike. I would recommend it!

Hi. I am interested in the colours for the jacket. It's hard to see any reflective detailing in the pictures. Is there any (esp on black). Interested as I am worried the black won't be visible to traffic... if so what do you recommend to help be seen?

Asked by: shiversf
Hi, on the images for front and back you will notice a few strips on shoulders, sides by each end of pockets and also on cuffs. This are the hi-vis strips which will become most visible when a vehicle light shines on them.

Hi, I’m looking for a jacket to wear with layering in temperatures from 2degC to 10degC that won’t cause me to overheat. Is this jacket appropriate or would you recommend another? Many thanks.

Asked by: Debi_ginger
Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties. This jacket is great for fighting the elements so it will keep you warm as well as dry.

Other than fit what are the main differences between this and the Classic Softshell? Thicker fabric etc?

Asked by: Morticia
Hi, this jacket is an improvement over the Classic Softshell Jacket. This jacket retains, and improves, on the breathability of the Classic Softshell jacket, but it has greatly improved water resistance. The Classic Winter Jacket is not fully waterproof like the Classic Hardshell, but it is highly water and wind resistant. The fit has also be tweaked to eliminate excess material and zips added under the armpit to offer extra breathability if needed. The end result is an incredibly versatile, all round, winter Jacket.

Hi ! This new women classic winter Jacket does it have the same size and fit as the old classic softshell Jacket ? Because the old model was very loose and airy in fit.  Regards Isabelle

Asked by: Classic winter Jacket
Hi, the new Women's Classic Winter Jacket has a re-worked fit to remove any unnecessary material. It has an improved, slightly closer fit as a result.
