Warmth at work

The combination of warmth and racing performance is tough to achieve, because insulation usually results in a bulkier garment. The Pro Team Long Sleeve Thermal Jersey is both fast and warm. The jersey fabric is a slightly thicker version of the current Pro Team Long Sleeve Aero Jersey, and has a fleecy brushed back inner for on-skin comfort. The jersey is cut in our Race fit, and it should be reasonably tight to ensure nothing flaps in the wind and slows you down. Further speed advantages come in the form of bonded back shoulder seams, with none at all on the front, as well as a new rear pocket construction that lies completely flat when not filled – you’ll cut straight through the wind. Designed for winter training when skies darken earlier, there are reflective elements all over the jersey, as well as headphone loops, and an easy-use Vizlon zip.

FEATURES

  • Made of a high-stretch and breathable performance fabric
  • Inner has been brushed back for soft comfort onto skin
  • Reflective armband and bars on wrist and rear pocket
  • Full length, easy-up VISLON® zipper for easy, one-handed adjustment
  • New triple rear cargo pocket (with breathable mesh inner) sits flat on back when not in use
  • Headphone loops up the back seam

FABRIC

  • 81% Polyester
  • 19% Elastane

Body sizing

Chest: measure underneath the armpits with the tape measure straight around.
Back Length: measure from the bottom of where your collar sits/base of the neck to the bottom of your spine.
Arm length: measure from where the seam would start at shoulder to bottom of the wrist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fabric, very confortable I am very happy with this jersey. Apart being confortable it also increases our own visability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit & visibility This is a well thought out jersey, with a very good cut and slim fit. The fit is in line with most of the Pro Team range, it's slim-fitting and orientated to an on-the-bike position. The sleeves are a good length which I feel is important for a Winter Jersey, and the front is cut short-enough to avoid any bunch-up when in the riding position. 3 good size pockets on the rear (plus a zipped pocket with integral glasses cloth) give plenty of storage, the fabric is stretchy but doesn't sag when fully-loaded with a rain cape and food. I opted for the pink colour for visibility in Winter/Spring light and it's a fantastic colour, a zingy pink which really stands out. The only thing to be aware of, as others have mentioned in reviews, is that it's not what I'd class as a true thermal jersey. Depending on where you live, I'd describe this as a Spring-weight jersey and I'll be pairing mine with thermal shorts, knee warmer and a Pro Team gilet for days when it's starting to warm up, but it's still cool enough for long-sleeve and some insulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around Jersey for Winter, Spring and Fall I bought this about a week ago and after the first ride, immediate bought another in the Pink color way. The Jersey fits like second skin. I wear a Large and am a size 42 chest. The pockets expand and hold everything securely without moving when you ride. I carry my repair kit, food & etc in my pockets and these pockets are very well reinforced at the points where they connect to the Jersey. I don't have to worry about the sticking coming loose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Jersey A (almost) must have for all year riders. I've had this jersey for a month and a half now, been riding under the predictable awful Vancouver weather. Here are the pros and cons The good stuff - This jersey is thin. For a thermal jersey, you'd expect something bulkier. But it works. For a thin jersey, it does a fairly good job keeping you warm. But I highly recommend you pair it up with a base layer. Without a base layer, and just the jersey, it could probably keep you warm at 12-13 degree celcius. But paired with a base layer and a jacket (in my case, I often wear the Pro Team Race Cape due to the rain), you could easily ride under 4 degree celcius. I also enjoy the lengthy arm, I do like the extra room rather than sleeves that are too short. The styling is phenomenal as always, the dark navy looks great. Compared to the Classic Jersey II LS, this is a lot more efficient at keeping you warm. It is also significantly less bulkier than the Classic II LS. On to the bad stuff - This needs to be layered up. It is not wind proof at all. Going downhill will obliterate you if you JUST wear the jersey. You should at least consider wearing a long sleeve base layer underneath to make it work. This is not meant for extreme cold riding, though you could, if you have the proper layers; I have ridden a 0 degree celcius ride with this, a pro team long sleeve baselayer and the softshell jacket with little to no trouble (didn't overheat or got too cold, the perfect medium). The fit is great. I wear a small for all Rapha jerseys and this is no different. With the exception of the aero short sleeve which I do size up to a medium and the classic II long sleeve which has a really weird fit (I wear an XS for this), this in small fits snug and does not have much excess hanging out. So, think about it carefully before you buy this, as for some reason the description implies you should size up. Overall, I would recommend this to those that rides all year round. It is versatile, keeps you warm, lightweight and does its job pretty well - keeping you warm on a chilly day. But I would definitely suggest you to pair up with a baselayer if you are planning to buy this.

I have the PT Insulated Jacket and love it.  For me it is great for temps below 45F.  I am wanting a jersey for slightly warmer temps to wear on it’s own with a base layer.  Is the PT Thermal a good versatile option?  Or would it be too warm for 45-55F?

Asked by: Rob T
This Jersey would be suitable for these temperatures. If you run a bit hot, the Pro Team Midweight Jersey may be a good choice also

I just ordered the aero love Ng sleeve jacket in XXL but thinking of changing to pro long sleeve mid weight or the pro long thermal jacket. What size should I get in those 2 jackets. I assume thermal is warmer

Asked by: Gentrymen
Hi, thermal jerseys and jackets will be warmer but the Aero Jersey is a good one to wear with a base layer underneath a thermal or insulated jacket as it is streamline and it will fit well underneath another race fit garment. As for sizing do stick to your original size and should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused garments with tags and in saleable condition.

His does this compare in fit to colourburn jersey, do you need size up as that jersey?

Asked by: npcrawley
Hi, this jersey is similar in fit to the standard Aero Long Sleeve Jersey. If you usually size up on the Aero Jersey then we suggest you do the same with this jersey model, should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused and with tags garments.

Would the new Pro Team Thermal jersey work well with the new Pro Team Thermal baselayer for high intensity winter riding in 2-10degC? Appreciate we all regulate temperature differently but need a rough working range.

Asked by: BarkerD
Hi, if riding at high intensity in 10ºC you may find this combination to be a bit to warm. Though great for long rides at a slower pace. It does depend not just in how well you regulate temperature but how much do you feel the cold. I'd say for training at approximately 2ºC to be good, but for nearer the 10ºC you may find you will be ok with a mesh merino base layer.

How does the warmth of this jersey compare to the gabba short sleeve? I'm after something a bit warmer than the gabba.

Asked by: Rob K
Hi, this jersey is warm enough to use it in very cold weather conditions when combined with the right base layer and race cape or gilet for where waterproof is need.

Hi! For which purpose should I choose this Pro Team LS Thermal Jersey and for what purpose should I choose the new Pro Team Training Jacket? I have doubt which one to buy for 2-3grs autumn/winter base mile training?? Cheers!

Asked by: Egsgaard
Hi, both these garments are good for Autumn/Winter base miles in cold weather conditions. You may find that with the Thermal Jersey you may require a good base layer and perhaps either a race cape or gilet dependent on weather conditions. For the Training Jacket you will most likely just require a good base layer and jersey if you do tend to feel the cold a lot, if not a good long sleeve base layer should suffice.
