Cold weather warmth, 10 years in the making

The Classic Winter Jacket is our most versatile bad weather jacket, redesigned for the needs of the modern rider. An evolutionary leap ahead from our Classic Softshell and Hardshell, it is the ideal garment for winter base miles, with the ability to withstand the harshest conditions on any kind of ride. Cut from Polartec® Power Shield Pro® fabric, it combines wind- and waterproofing with incredible breathability, efficiently transferring moisture vapour away from the skin while keeping the elements at bay. Added underarm zips allow for increased ventilation when the temperature, or the intensity, rises.

Designed to be used across a range of winter temperatures as part of a layering system, the Classic Winter Jacket features hi-vis detailing for riding in low light, as well as taped seams, waterproof zips and elastane inner cuffs to keep you comfortable and dry, whatever the weather.

“A high-quality water and wind-resistant jacket that's ideal for tackling any sort of weather you're likely to encounter on a winter ride. It could be the last jacket you'll ever need to buy.”
★★★★☆ David Arthur, »

Body sizing

Back Length: measure from the bottom of where your collar sits/base of the neck to the bottom of your spine.
Arm length: measure from where the seam would start at shoulder to bottom of the wrist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter jacket Excellent jacket in cold temperatures, keeps the cold out but you have to layer with it depending on temperatures. Doesn’t breath well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb well crafted jacket A truly classic jacket, versatile enough to be comfortable in snow, wind and rain, all of which I hard last week, and yet well vented for warmer days too. A one stop jacket with great features. My only desire would be for slightly bigger pockets, but otherwise it delivers in every respect. Andy B

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent winter jacket I have been very happy with this jacket. Without being bulky it keeps me warm and dry. Fit feels strange at first but is excellent on the bike. It also washes well. Very pleased I bought it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, snug and dry Feels like a second skin and when its cold and wet out there and that's exactly what you need. I've ridden in all weather in this and even as the temperature rises, you can keep comfortable with the underarm zips. A revising to the pocket sizes might be an idea, though, as I struggled to get an iPhone in mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great piece of kit I've had this out in the rain and cold at elevation and it has done an exceptional job of keeping me comfortable. I was focused on controlling the bike and my cadence instead of adjusting my kit or shivering on the descents. I tend to do tempo in the wintertime and have a hard time with overheating on the ups, then suffering on the down. This breathes exceptionally well and stayed put. I am 5'9 and 155 lbs this time of year, and I got a Medium. I could have fit a Small, but for wintertime layering I'm glad I got the Medium. I've had "team kit" winter jackets in the past, but I am so glad I went for this. The cuffs are another nice touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Best bit of winter kit I own. I use in minus temperatures with just a merino base layer and winter collar and it’s superb. Now with vents this is the best jacket you will ever own.

Hi there, curious what temperature ranges this jacket is intended for? In hopes of using with light layering and some slightly thicker layering... Thanks

Asked by: JD99
Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties. But this Jacket is a winter staple for those who do not get deterred by the cold and wet weather. It is a very versatile winter garment as it can be combined with different layers for different cold weather temperatures.

Thanks for a fantastic jacket. In the below Q&A you recommend to “ the garment regularly to keep its waterproof properties.”. Can you please advise how this re-proofing should be done?

Asked by: Krayberry
Hi, all re-proofers have their own instructions as they are slightly different. We suggest to follow each re-proofer's own instructions. With ours you should apply it onto the garment straight after it is washed whilst the garment is still damp as this will allow for the re-proofer to set in equally. then we advise an extremely low drier setting and if you rather not dry it in a dryer then use a hair drier in a low setting to apply heat to activate the protector.

Hi, I just purchased a Brevet Lightweight Jersey in an XL and it fit perfect.  (I'm 190cm / 94kg) I have read some reviews that it can run a bit small in the chest or with some light layering.  Would you stick to XL or go XXL? Thanks!

Asked by: Sich
Hi, because fit is not just dependent on height and weight but mostly on each body shape and customer's personal preference to how customer's prefer garments to fit, it is hard for us to be exact in sizing advice. If you say it fits perfectly then do stick with that size you have.

For keeping the DWR active, would you recommend tumble drying rather than line drying? 30 or45C? Or does it make no difference?

Asked by: Himatt68
The best way to reactivate the DWR is to put through the machine on a rinse cycle to remove any residue from the washing detergent before tumble drying on a low setting

Hi Is the position of the rear pockets changes this year from last? It's a great jacket, but the rear pockets are awfully high up, and a bit hard to reach

Asked by: Helidoc
Hi, this years model is equal in design to last year's model. The changes have been mainly in small details such as colour options.

From an appearance and cut standpoint how does the classic winter jacket compare with the classic soft / hardshell jackets ? What I like about the classic soft shell is that it can be worn off the bike as a casual jacket as it has a longer frontal area.TY

Asked by: Sp3ctre
Hi, The Classic Winter Jacket is a new version of the older Softshell, so if you were a fan of that we are certain you will like this one just as much. This jacket looks good on and off the bike, it has a smart tailored look that is under stated and subtle.

Has this version changed in any way from last years model, the Tri-color SE version specifically.  Thinking fit or tightness in upper arms/shoulders when reaching to bars.

Asked by: Jake F
The fit of the Jacket has not changed. If you have found the jacket tight across the upper body, have you tried the next size up that will have more room in this area?

Does the jacket include the fluorescent drop down at the rear?

Asked by: Sonick
All of the Classic Winter Jackets feature the drop tail feature in Hi Vis Pink. It is contained within a zip panel on the rear hem of the Jacket
