Lightweight, packable, weather-resistant insulation

Long-distance riders can encounter a full range of weather conditions, so a lightweight layer that is both warm and packable is essential. The Brevet Insulated Jacket provides exceptional warmth, while highly breathable Polartec® Alpha® insulation ensures you won’t overheat during harder efforts. Extensively tested across a range of conditions: from the Transcontinental race across Europe, to the cold summits of Australia’s snowy mountains.

This versatile jacket is made for days when the weather is hard to predict. The fast-drying and hydrophobic properties of Polartec® Alpha® mean the jacket won’t hold water like natural down insulation and with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating you can watch the rain roll off.

Soft, brushed jersey side panels add warmth and allow the jacket to stretch over full pockets, while reflective detailing increases visibility in low light. When not in use the jacket rolls up neatly, secured by an elasticated loop at the neck.

Karen Whittier, product manager for insulation at Polartec, explains the science behind Polartec® Alpha®:

Polartec® Alpha® was engineered as an active insulation to regulate core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This ‘adaptive’ breathability helps to eliminate the need for shedding or adding layers while on the move, making it ideal for cycling.

By keeping moisture vapour moving freely through the fabric, it increases overall air exchange and drastically speeds up dry times, providing thermal regulated comfort. Polartec® Alpha® is also highly compressible, made with a stable core that prevents ‘fibre migration’ to keep a uniform consistency, even after heavy wear and repeated laundering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another perfect piece The perfect addition to my equipment during long rides and overnight adventures. Amazingly breathable and very good weather protection. I do not need to take any down jacket with me to stay warm when sleeping in the sleeping bag ....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light, very warm Love this jacket for morning and late evening commute. If it gets really chilly (below 10) this kit makes me feel like still being in the bed. And it's really light, which is nice on the bike as well as when you have to carry it. The style is great as usual, yet the glossy fabric looks a bit odd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty on a long, wet ride. I put this on halfway through on a cold, wet, touring ride from Oxford to Portsmouth. I was toasty for the rest of the journey and never too hot. Looks good off the bike for short periods. The fit feels tight and short at the front off the bike, but is perfect once in a riding position. Seems decent value for Polartec Alpha too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Stitching. Rides up at rear Bought this jacket as my “go to” now the cold and chilly mornings/days are here. First impression this is a nice piece of kit, although pretty short on the front. I always wear size XL jerseys from Rapha but with only a merino base layer this jacket felt tight across the chest, when on the bike it felt tight across the upper back/shoulders. After about 5 mins the jacket started riding up at the rear due to no gripper and I spent whole ride constantly pulling it back down. On arriving home after a 50 mile ride I noticed that the stitching around both elasticated cuffs had failed. On the plus I did feel warm during the ride. Returned for a full refund

What is the coldest you can wear this jacket in fahrenheit?

Asked by: Swift72
This Jacket would be suitable for riding in 32 Fahrenheit with a long sleeved Jersey underneath. With additional layering, you would be able to wear in colder temperatures also

Is this suitable for colder temps than the winter jerseys?

Asked by: Brains
The insulated body of this Jacket means that it can be worn in temperatures colder than the Winter Jersey. In combination, these products would be comfortable in low single figure Celsius conditions
