Description

The Merino Windblock Sweatshirt features a front panel that adds a layer of protection while on the move without compromising off bike comfort and wearability. Made of a luxurious mid weight merino terry cloth with a brushed fleece back, the sweater is very soft and comfortable with natural sweat-wicking and odour-resistant properties built in and flat locked seams throughout to help reduce bulk. A zipped pocket on the rear is perfect for carrying everyday essentials while the classic armband adds a touch of signature Rapha styling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Fit For Purpose Almost perfect - Rapha finally gave the windblock layer a fleece backing, but the sleeve length & overall length is just way too short. Sleeves are at least an inch short of being able to actually use this on-bike. Same for the length of the tail - in an on-bike position it rides up and exposes your back. Given this was designed for "city riding", these are fatal flaws. Off-bike it's OK, but again, the sleeves are way too short. And if it's only good off-bike, there is no need for the crinkly nylon windblock layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft and Comfy but Noisy I love the shirt, it's warm, soft, cozy and looks good. I've never worn it on a bike, cause there's so much more expensive Rapha for that. My wife thinks the nylon front is for my habit of dripping ice cream on my chest while eating it. Can't argue that. I'd like it much better without the wind proof front. Better to slip on a gilet. The nylon is distractingly noisy throughout the day when I wear this. That is my only real complaint. No stealth with this shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic piece of casual clothing I love this sweatshirt. Yes its a casual top but the cut and fit is such that it looks smart. Dressed down with a pair of jeans and trainers or dress it up with some chinos and nice shoes it works both ways. Its a fairly slim fitting top and needs to be worn next to the skin to benefit from the soft fleece lining. I ordered a small and i'm 172cm and 71KG. This is Rapha back to their best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wind block jersey Nice! Fits well, washes well, wind block front actually does a good job. Dropped a star as the rear pocket should be in the middle of the back instead of to the side as it feels weird to have a weighty phone hanging on one side…Rapha are not the only company to put a pocket on the side. It feels ‘unbalanced’.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong with this one Soft and warm on chilled mornings this top is brilliant with it's wind blocking panels. Zipped pocket is ideal for bank card or small set of keys but that's it. Washed well with no fading or shrinking. I'm 6ft and wide, it fits true to size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cut the Chill Really comfortable to wear next to skin and the windblocker is extremely effective at stopping even strong winds getting through. Selective use of the windblocker fabric means that I had no build up of perspiration. Very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very soft, breathable and sufficiently warm. The merinon blend makes it very soft and keeps you warm even though you swet. The windblock works wonders. Relaxed fit, which I was after. Go down one size if you like it more tight.

The merino wool components of this garment are all Responsible Wool Standard certified. As these fabrics are 100% merino wool, they are also be fully recyclable and/or compostable.

Is the wind block panel fleece-backed as well?  In other words is the front panel merino + nylon panel or is the front *only* nylon as was the case in previous incarnations.
