Smart everyday comfort in a relaxed cut

Offering a relaxed fit with a slight taper that follows the shape of your leg, the Cotton Trousers have been created as definitive, everyday wear for city riding. The fabric, 98% cotton twill with 2% lycra for stretch, ensures superlative comfort and fit and an excellent range of movement when riding. The fabric is also designed to wear in over time to create a distinctive patina.

The side pockets are zipped for the safe storage of valuables, and the right-rear pocket also has a zip closure. The left-rear pocket has a button fastening and a hi-vis pink tab which can be exposed or hidden depending on your style preference. The hi-vis pink piping on the inside legs provides versatile functionality, and can be hidden or revealed depending on the visibility required.

The cut of these Rapha City trousers is more generous than in previous seasons. For the perfect fit we recommend downsizing by one size.

4.5 / 5
Rapha have gone easy on the bike-specific features with their new trousers, preferring hi-vis flashes and a focus on fit. The result is a pair of perfectly-cut trousers that will become a wardrobe staple both on and off the bike, manufactured with the sort of care and attention to detail the brand has become renowned for. Many cycle-friendly features remain, however, the most notable being the slight stretch in the fabric and the zipped pockets.
Graham Hutson, The Times

“There doesn't seem to be a catch with these trousers. They have a near-perfect balance of performance as a good pair of trousers and performance as a good pair of cycling trousers. They're an item of clothing you'll end up wearing whether or not riding a bike is going to feature in your day – a sure sign of a well-made product.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great commuting trousers I wear these most days at work - including a short Brompton ride from the station. Iove 'em. They're so comfortable and stylish, that I'm tempted to wear them on non-biking days as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfort and quality just what you expect from rapha, a really comfortable everyday trouser than looks great in the office as well as the pub. Love the little touches that have been added to these trousers, like the flash of pink on the rear pocket and seam of the inside leg. Bought them three weeks ago and already looking at another colour

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit - casual and smart enough for the office The description of fit on the website is spot on, come down a size. The fit is generous without being baggy or loose and the slight stretch in the fabric adds comfort. They seem to improve with use and washing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality and length These are good quality cotton and they fit my leg length - I am 194cm/88kg and got a 36/long. They are a relaxed fit so it's a tiny bit big around the waist, but the leg width is good, nothing a belt won't fix.

Hi Rapha. I've 3 pairs of awesome randonee shorts in a 36 that are just about right, and a pair of the cotton shorts in a 36 that are on the big side. What size would you suggest for these trousers? Waistline is reducing rather than expanding.....

Asked by: nplusone
These trousers do have a slightly more relaxed/looser fit so some people do choose to size down from what the size guide would normally suggest based upon your dimensions. You could try a 34 and if this does not meet your specifications then you will be able to return these to us for an exchange under our 90 day returns policy.

I'm in between sizes and wonder if a 30" or 32" would best fit my 31" waist? I don't mind them being loose but don't want baggy pants either. Advice please?

Asked by: Toco
The Relaxed Fit is on the slightly looser side so I suggest trying the 30". We have a 90 days returns policy for new/unused items, so if they fit tight around the waist you are welcome to return for an exchange or refund.

If I normally wear a 32, would you really suggest going down to a 30? Also what's the inseam? Cause I also get pants in the long as well. I'm about 5'11. Thank you.

Asked by: AjdG
Hi, these trousers fit true to size but this is a looser fit than previous generations of our trousers. Some people do choose to size down. The inseam for the short option is 30", regular is 32" and long is 34".
