Cold weather warmth, 10 years in the making

The Classic Winter Jacket is our most versatile bad weather jacket, redesigned for the needs of the modern rider. An evolutionary leap ahead from our Classic Softshell and Hardshell, it is the ideal garment for winter base miles, with the ability to withstand the harshest conditions on any kind of ride. Cut from Polartec® Power Shield Pro® fabric, it combines wind- and waterproofing with incredible breathability, efficiently transferring moisture vapour away from the skin while keeping the elements at bay. Added underarm zips allow for increased ventilation when the temperature, or the intensity, rises.

Designed to be used across a range of winter temperatures as part of a layering system, the Classic Winter Jacket features hi-vis detailing for riding in low light, as well as taped seams, waterproof zips and elastane inner cuffs to keep you comfortable and dry, whatever the weather.

“… a high-quality water and wind-resistant jacket that's ideal for tackling any sort of weather you're likely to encounter on a winter ride. It could be the last jacket you'll ever need to buy.”
★★★★☆ David Arthur,

  • Waterproof and wind-resistant with comfortable stretch
  • Highly breathable fabric regulates temperature during hard efforts
  • Taped internal seams to keep out the worst of the weather
  • Concealed front pocket
  • Debossed logo on sleeve
  • Drainage holes in rear pockets

Polartec® Power Shield Pro®:

  • 90% polyester
  • 10% elastane

  • Machine wash 30°C
  • Tumble dry low
  • Do not iron
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not dry clean

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all season riding jacket I’ve owned I have owned Assoss, Castelli and Sugoi riding jackets. I live in the North East US and commute 15miles to work. This Rapha jacket keeps me warm and dry AND breathes. Very good quality and comfortable, best I have owned by far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unexpected Quality Gift This Jacket was a gift for my birthday. What an amazing piece of kit, performs as advertised. It partners excellently with a mid to heavy weight whool base layer and has kept me dry during the hardest efforts. It’s exceptional quality and breathability is perfect for those long 60-100 mile rides in the cold or changing conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Wet/ Cold Weather Jacket I have tested this jacket in the wettest and coldest weather I could find in the Netherlands and it performs extremely well. My hands, feet and legs are soaked and cold when I return from a wet ride, but this jacket maintains core temp and always dry. The underarm zipper vents make a big difference, but I did not notice them for first few rides and almost abandoned the jacket because I was too warm. Only critical note is that it could do with a splash of color and it's tight at the collar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First test, great result Having always been a bit reticent to spend big money I was very happily surprised by the quality and comfort of the jacket. First test was in 1 degree and windy rain at Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. Performed fantastically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Home Run This is my fourth jacket from Rapha as I also use the soft shell, hard shell and rain jackets as well. When Rapha says they used all of their experience to build this jacket, I believe them. I have only ridden it once so far, but fit and warmth are spot on. I do find their jackets to be a bit tighter in fit than their size chart however. Another great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! I was wearing this jacket and only one layer at 3 degrees and felt great. My other cycling mates hat 3-4 layers and still felt cold.

Hi Is the position of the rear pockets changes this year from last? It's a great jacket, but the rear pockets are awfully high up, and a bit hard to reach

Asked by: Helidoc
Hi, this years model is equal in design to last year's model. The changes have been mainly in small details such as colour options.

From an appearance and cut standpoint how does the classic winter jacket compare with the classic soft / hardshell jackets ? What I like about the classic soft shell is that it can be worn off the bike as a casual jacket as it has a longer frontal area.TY

Asked by: Sp3ctre
Hi, The Classic Winter Jacket is a new version of the older Softshell, so if you were a fan of that we are certain you will like this one just as much. This jacket looks good on and off the bike, it has a smart tailored look that is under stated and subtle.

Has this version changed in any way from last years model, the Tri-color SE version specifically.  Thinking fit or tightness in upper arms/shoulders when reaching to bars.

Asked by: Jake F
The fit of the Jacket has not changed. If you have found the jacket tight across the upper body, have you tried the next size up that will have more room in this area?

Does the jacket include the fluorescent drop down at the rear?

Asked by: Sonick
All of the Classic Winter Jackets feature the drop tail feature in Hi Vis Pink. It is contained within a zip panel on the rear hem of the Jacket

does it fit into a jersey pocket?

Asked by: monobedoya
This Jacket would not fold up into a Jersey pocket. It is designed as a adverse weather Jacket, not as a packable jacket to be folded into a smaller storage space

For 'Windproofness' - how would the jacket compare with a typical Gore 'Windstopper' garment, about the same, better or less?

Asked by: Velorider
The Powershield membrane is wind and waterproof. This Jacket will repel all wind when riding.

Hi, my size is between Medium and Large. I have a Winter Jersey size L but little bit big. And I have a Club jersey size L and is this perfect for me. What size do you recommended? Thank you

Asked by: sife71
If you normally wear a Large, we would recommend this as the fit of this Jacket is more tailored than these older Jerseys and would suit your preferred fit more

Hi - can you please confirm if this jacket is waterproof or just highly water resistant? The product description advises it is waterproof but on reading the Q&A's it appears it is only [highly] water resistant!?!

Asked by: LePet
This garment is fully Waterproof. However, you should re-proof the garment regularly to keep its waterproof properties.
