RCC Classic Flyweight Bib Shorts
New Rapha Cycling Club bib shorts for riding and training in hot and humid conditions.
RYS01XX
Description
New for 2017, the RCC Flyweight Bib Shorts are designed for club members riding in hot and humid conditions. The shorts are made of an extremely lightweight, soft four-way stretch fabric - the lightest we’ve used in our bib shorts - that has been treated with Coldblack™ to reduce absorption of sunlight and keep your legs cooler. The upper section has a breathable and lightweight construction, with a thin mesh that stretches over your shoulders and we’ve used the perforated chamois pad from the Pro Team Lightweight Bib Shorts. An RCC logo in the club colours is printed on the right leg, with a Rapha logo on the left. Designed to pair with the RCC Flyweight Jersey, these cycling bib shorts will keep you cool as you take flight in the heat.

Mixed bag
I understand these are flyweight but I think they sacrificed a bit too much in terms of features to get there.
The good:
-great tailoring. Fit is good on the bike.
-I like the straps. The material is lightweight and lays flat. It's a mesh that isn't stretchy but seems quite good and is holding up on initial usage.
-the chamois is nice. I like it a lot.
-customer service is quite excellent.
The bad:
-Black material is not supportive at all. It is thin, sure, but is not compressive at all. That rears it's head in not holding the chamois in place to the leg sleeves riding up.
It feels like your legs are moving inside the shorts, rather than the shorts moving with your muscles.
-the legs are cut too short. These are probably an 3-5cm shorter than any of my bibs of any brand. The product photos make them seem longer than they are.
-Silicone leg grippers do not grip well. I also feel would be a better idea to have wide, compressive leg bands rather than a thin, silicone gripper. Fabric would seem to be lighter weight and work better than the silicone.
-color bleeds out from hand wash. I am not sure if this is from the chamois or the bib material. It's a bit worrying because that thin bib material cannot withstand loosing dye- unless you want to give everyone behind you a free show.
The middle:
-RCC logo is a rubberized material. Looks nice but I suspect it will eventually crack and peel.
It would worry me except than I suspect the bib material will not last long enough for that to be an issue.
It sounds worse than it is. I feel it's an 'okay' product but certainly not excellent. I will try some of the Pro bibs in the future to see how they work out.

Very comfortable bib shorts, however
Vervy light and comfortable, great for humid summer riding. However the white stap of the front liner has come off after a few washes, and I've been having it for < 1 month and only did social rides wearing that. So I was a bit disappointed on the quality

Fabric is great, but I don't like the fit.
I think I like the new fabric, but I don't like the way the front of the bibs are designed. If you compare the front to other Rapha bibs, you'll see the fabric part comes up right above the belly button area plus there is another inch of mesh fabric. So when I'm on the bike, the top of the mesh comes to my sternum. These are supposed to be lightweight for hot rides, but this extra fabric effectively feels like an added base layer on my stomach.

Super light but not for long day in the saddle
Worn this week in Spain in 39 degrees. Certainly flyweight - you can hardly notice they're there. But pad is very thin and worth considering if you're planning long days in the mountain. For me compromise in weight in return for sore backside is one I'm not willing to take. Will stick to the pro team lightweight or if it has to be RCC go with pro team.

Great Materials
I'm used to the old super lightweight range and was looking forward to the new flyweight range. The new material is light and breathes well. Only thing to note is that the chamois is lighter than the old super lightweights once and hence offers lessor comfort.

Very light and comfortable
Very thin and light for the warmest days. I like the finish which makes it feel cool even in baking sun. The front is cut too high for my taste and would love to see a lower front for better cooling but overall the best bib for really hot days

nice
You can feel an incredibly comfortable fit.
It is not tight, so if you want tightness, it is better to wear one size down.

Does these fist more like the Pro Team bibs or the Classic bibs?
These are more comparable to the new Brevet shorts, therefore the fit is in-between the Pro Team and the Classics.
