For someone who owns way too many of these types of jackets from all the top outdoor brands, I surprised myself as to why I decided to buy “one more”. Well I’m glad I did because this is my favorite by far!! Yesterday I wore under my ski shell on a cold powder day here in Utah - less bulk and all the warmth. I will likely buy another in a different color because it’s so versatile - ski, bike, hike, travel, everyday to the office with a slightly different style than the others. The warmth and feather light weight is incredible - feels like wearing the lightest, best quality of down comforter you could imagine. I’m proud to wear this brand and what it stands for!!

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny. Worth every penny, all of them. It's the perfect jacket when you find yourself at the top of a cold windy mountain about to start an icy decent. I own another high end down jacket, well I thought it was, it's thicker than this but lets double the amount of cold and wind through. I finally now I understand what a quality high end down jacket does. Wouldn't wear this in foul weather, that's when I opt for my weather proof jacket. But this has become my trusty companion on every adventure, from my daily Dublin commutes, to my weekend adventures out in the country side. It's so lightweight I don't even know I'm carrying it.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nope The arms, for a Rapha garment, are super short and the hood leaks air into the neck. I really wanted to like this jacket, it felt light, packed down super small, but for the first time in a long time a Rapha piece of clothing did not feel like a cyclist first product. In a cycling position (road/gravel) the sleeves would ride up midway on my forearm, something I've not experienced from Rapha before. The other thing, if you have the hood on, air seeps down into the neck area, between the buttons, making you lose heat as well as add cool air from the outside.

For my daily commute it’s perfect and the fact that it can be unzipped from the top or bottom is great for breathability. Vents at the back would have been a great addition. For some strange reason the men have more choice of colours than the women, very annoying. It’s a four star for that reason, Rapha we ladies like colours too!!

    What is the Length in L and XL? I am 184 cm and 81 kg.  I wear L in Core and Classic and xl in the Brevet insulated Jacket and Pro Team? I Prefer a Little Bit looser and longer?

    Hi, How does the warmth of this jacket compare to the Brevet insulated jacket? I’m a size M in the Brevet jacket, would that be the same for this? Thanks.

    The Explore Down Jacket is a bit warmer and thicker than the Brevet Insulated Jacket. We recommend the same size in this jacket as you wear in the Brevet Insulated Jacket.

    How water-repellent is this jacket?  Is this waterproof enough for an every day commute and keep you dry on a rainy commute?

    Even though this has a DWR coating, it is not waterproof. It will keep you dry for a brief time, but it will have a saturation point and the seams are not taped so it will leak eventually. I use this for cold, dry days.
