Ambitious 220

26th–27th June

Following in the tyre tracks of Manchester to London, Ambitious 220 is a long-distance Rapha Cycling Club charity ride to be ridden remotely over one weekend, in aid of Ambitious about Autism.

In 2020, we saw several riding events disappear from the calendar, meaning many riders’ tough training went without a worthy pay-off. To ensure you can train without the turmoil of cancelled events in 2021, we've put together a riding challenge that you won't have to worry about. Self-supported and self-guided, all you need is a bike, a carefully laid out 220-mile route and a good deal of ambition.

WHY?

As well as being the founder and CEO of Rapha, Simon Mottram is also a passionate advocate of the charity Ambitious about Autism. Simon understands the challenges this condition poses and created the annual Manchester to London ride to support the charity that helped his son reach his full potential.

"Ambitious about Autism is a truly remarkable organisation. They have been a huge support to my wife and me and to my son Oscar over many years through Treehouse School and more recently Ambitious College. Their passion, expertise and, perhaps most of all, their sheer ambition makes a vital difference to all the families whose lives they touch and I'm very proud to be one of their ambassadors."

– Simon Mottram, founder and CEO of Rapha

HOW IT WORKS

Taking place over one weekend in June, the Ambitious 220 can either be split over two days, taking Saturday night to recover, or can be completed in an undoubtedly ambitious 24-hour push. RCC members could even kick the challenge up a notch and head off-road. There are no rules on where you should be riding, so long as you clock in your miles on Strava.

Once you’ve decided on committing to riding the Ambitious 220, you’ll need to sign up and pay a small £50 entry fee. Riders will then receive a rider pack, reminiscent of those given to riders on the original M2L. Each pack contains a special edition cap, musette and roundel, your rider number, a guidance booklet, and some information about Ambitious about Autism, plus a few extras.

Riders will also have access to the specially designed Ambitious Jersey, available to pre-order in time for the ride.

Upon signing up, you will be emailed a link to set up your own fundraising page for Ambitious about Autism. We ask every rider to aim to fundraise £300 for the cause which will all be going directly to the charity.
