Often seen as a historical turning point, 1989 also witnessed a transition in the professional peloton from traditional woollen jerseys to synthetic modern ones. To mark the end of this era in road wear, we've created this special edition merino wool jersey, with three designs each inspired by an iconic ascent tackled in a Grand Tour that year. Based on the Classic Jersey, this special edition is made with our proprietary merino-based fabric, RPM150 (Rapha Performance Merino - the 150 indicates grams per square metre). Unlike generic merino blends, RPM150 is light, soft, breathable and adaptable to a huge range of conditions. Helping your body breathe in hot conditions and insulating when the temperature drops, we believe this to be the most versatile cycling fabric in the world. Three rear pockets provide ample space for tools, spares and extra layers while riding, with a zipped pocket for essentials that is framed by a reflective element to improve visibility.
