Rapha And Giro Present The World’s Finest Road Shoes

Using the highest quality components available, the Rapha GT Shoes have been developed to offer a traditional feel but with the modern, cutting-edge performance needed for long rides and optimum power transfer. Updates to the latest edition of the GT Shoes include a new carbon-fibre outsole, and a calfskin toe box and heel counter for durability. The straps now also feature fully-inked edges and there is a reflective Rapha logo on the heel. The heel pieces can also be replaced when worn out.

The shoes are the first to use yak leather, a soft but highly durable upper specifically developed by specialist ecco®. Due to the yak’s ability to survive in severe conditions, yak leather delivers unique benefits including lightness, water resistance, breathability and superb tensile strength. The nature of the uppers mean they will wear in beautifully to become even more comfortable over time. The upper also has a water and stain repellency treatment and is perforated for added moisture movement and texture.

Other details include a machined aluminium buckle (with laser-etched Rapha logo), with padded leather straps and titanium anchors. The shoes are available in white or black with a contrast lower strap, echoing the toe straps of cycling’s golden era.

Key features:

  • Perforated yak upper, exclusively made by ecco®
  • Unidirectional carbon sole
  • Carbon-fibre outsole
  • Cork/EVA footbeds that mould to the shape of the foot
  • Machined aluminum buckle with leather straps and titanium D-rings
  • Timeless Rapha styling

NB: Please only try the shoes on a carpeted surface without cleats, as we are unable to accept returns with scratched or scuffed soles, thank you.
NB: The Rapha GT Shoes may require you to order a size smaller than other brands.

Reviews:

"The GT’s internal detailing puts most other shoes to shame. The leather-lined, padded heel is one of the most comfortable we’ve tried, aided by a padded tongue and a perforated front section that allows your feet to breathe."
BikeRadar ****

"Hell, Fighting Cock is a great $15 bottle and Bookers or Basil Hayden’s is a good mid-range, coming in at $30-$40. Jim Beam is out of the picture, leave that shit to the sports bars. Makers is perfect for a bourbon and ginger, as is Buffalo Trace but Van Winkle Special Reserve, like the Rapha Grand Tour Shoes are just a step up from the rest. Giro‘s line of cycling shoes are like bourbon: there’s something for everyone. It just so happens that the GT shoes are the Van Winkle of the line."

"…they are the best-made production cycling shoes I’ve ever worn and the natural leather has made for an appreciable increase in comfort—especially for a shoe not really designed for my foot."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising performance! I bought these shoes a few weeks ago. I expected a high level of comfort, which these shoes deliver in spades, but was surprised by how well all the power is transferred to the pedals. A very strong platform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful, Beautiful, and Comfortable I had a pair of reflective Climber's shoes that failed miserably. Even though the reflective Climber's shoes have uncomfortably stiff uppers, the reflective coating started delaminating after the first ride and one of the heel caps fell off only after two months (all these problems have been previously reported with the Climber's shoes). Rapha promptly took the defective shoes back and provided me with credit to buy another pair of shoes. Unfortunately, the non-reflective (black or white) climber's shoes are largely unimpressive from an appearance standpoint as they look like like any competitor's plain old road shoes. I had some mixed feelings about buying the GT shoes because I was told that they are "warmer" on the feet than the climber's shoes but I also thought that they are the most beautiful of Rapha's shoes. After some deliberation, I passed on another pair of Climber's shoes and went with the GT shoes (black). The first thing that I noticed when I unboxed the GT's is the vast number of ventilation holes across the uppers. The leather is insanely supple and I cannot imagine what it will be like when it breaks in. Setting up the cleats for a Speedplay Zero system is easy by using the shorter bolts and a thicker shim on the front edge of the cleat to provide perfect conformity with the GT shoe's sole. To note, all of the bolts securing the heel caps on both shoes (4 total) were not snugged down when I checked them and I tightened them before riding in them. On the the bike the shoes were instantly the most comfortable shoes I have ever pedaled in after some 20 years of riding in bike-specific shoes. The ventilation is much better than imagined, which is really the greatest surprise for me. These shoes have a timeless appearance, a stiff sole, and unparalleled comfort. Each time I ride with them, I am liking them more and more. While the reflective Climber's shoes earn high marks for "coolness," the GT shoes do the same while offering a level of comfort that no other shoe provides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable Very stiff sole with the most comfortable and supple leather upper. I now have 2 pair in both colours. They get better with each ride as the upper softens and moulds to your foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Super comfortable and great quality. Did a 1,200km tour to the South of France in them and they were FAB. Recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look the biz Had these as an exchange for my RCC climbers shoe, these look as good as the climbers shoe, but are 100% bitter fit providing much more comfort on longer rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shoes ever Bought these beauties a couple of weeks ago and from opening the box you just know you've bought some quality shoes. I'd recommend you order half size bigger than normal shoe size though , I did and there a great fit. Really soft quality leather and I've not even worn them in yet. A little pricey but worth that extra spend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeling Good Everything is fine, but there is one regret. Today, all the expensive shoes use the BOA dials, but Just Rapha using old-style.

What is the difference between the climbers shoe and the GT shoe?

Asked by: mkloakland
The GT Shoes are made from a combination of Calf and Yak Leather, designed for comfort while utilising Easton's Carbon Fibre sole. The Climbers Shoes are made of a lightweight Synthetic upper to minimise the weight of the shoe when paired with the lightweight Carbon sole

Hello, Is there a diiference in lenght between all sizes? Or is some halfsizes on the same last to differ only in the wideness? My concern is if the 42.5 and 43 have different lasts.

Asked by: Nrohjb
The different shoes will all have a variation of sizes of both width and length. If you purchase a shoe and this does fit with you own specification ten you can always send these back to us under the free 90 days returns policy for an exchange.

I am a size 46 on Specialized Shoes. Base on the sizing guide I should be a 47 in Rapha. Would you suggest I get this size?

Asked by: Doc Keith
Hi, we do recommend following the size guide for deciding on your shoe. As the shoe is developed with a Giro, the GT shoes will use the same size last as Giros. Should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period.

I have flat feet and a lot of shoes dig into my arch and therefore are extremely uncomfortable. I currently use Shimano shoes which work. How high (and hard) are the embedded arch support in these shoes?

Asked by: JMur
Hi, the embedded arch in this shoe is quite flat. They then come with three different arch supports which combine with the insole to suit a variety of feet.

My exact foot size are 41 / UK7 , i already purchased GT shoes size of 41.5 , so I wonder it's the right size for me ?

Asked by: Beck
Hi, if you do not already own a pair of cycling shoes in our comparison chart, we would normally recommend you choose your street shoe size. As always, we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.

As they are made of real leather, do they tend to have more stretch? Hence if you are between sizes, would it be better to go down a size?

Asked by: Bugs
Hi, the shoes are sold in half sizes. If you are in between half sizes, we would recommend you go down to the nearest half size. As always, we have a 90 day returns policy if needed.
