Technical cycling tights for very cold conditions

These high-performance cycling bib tights have been created to provide maximum protection in harsh conditions without compromising the rider’s range of movement. Designed to be worn over padded cycling shorts, the legs of the tights feature pre-bent knees for a superior fit, and which will also aid pedal strokes. The body of the tights are made from a heavier weight, fleece-lined fabric which is highly breathable and reinforced in key areas.

The front of the legs have windproof panels and there is a harder wearing fabric at the seat, which is abrasion-resistant, water-repellent and includes reinforced stitching. The chest and rear leg panels use a thinner fabric that works with your base layer and jersey to prevent overheating. Offset seams are positioned to prevent chafing and the bibs are made from a strong, breathable black mesh.

Other styling includes white panels on the lower back and a reflective white stripe down the back of the left leg. The stirrups of the tights provide extra support, use a durable binding and can be folded inside if not required. The left-hand shoulder features a pink tab with Rapha logo and the top of the seat panel has a printed ‘WHEELSUCKER’ motto to encourage your training partners (or provoke your enemies).

Reviews:

There’s a lot of attention to detail, with pre-bent knees and a hard-wearing, water-resistant seat panel. The result is a beautifully cut, comfortable product that’s exceptionally warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple design, great fit These are my first over-kit tights without a pad and they will keep you warm, yet breath so you aren't wet with sweat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I am a women and was looking for the warmest tights for our cold winter in Canada. Got these ones and the Small fits perfectly over a pair of W Souplesse bibshorts (5ft6 and 135lbs). So far, I rode in temperature of -7C + windchill and I was warm throughout the 90 min ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug as a bug Having used these for the past month of so of fairly 'deep' UK winter, they are by far the best tights I've had in 20+ years of cycling. They breath well and are comfortable up to the high single digits Cs. I don't think I've found the lower limit just yet. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great winter tights I'm riding every day in winter with my cyclocross bike at work and back with a climb of 600m uphill. I neither have cold in the uphill nor in the downhill at it is most of the time around 0 degrees celsius cold. They also dry fast and fit well with a pair of brevet shorts underneath. They are a bit narrow around the ankles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive I bought these deep winter tights along with a Pro Team Winter Hat and the Deep Winter Gloves with Merino Liners. It's fair to say I feel the cold! These garments are my first from Rapha and all feel of excellent quality. Worn for two rides at the weekend, the first was a sub-zero start and the second started freezing and ended in torrential rain. Perhaps not perfect riding conditions but ideal to test out the new gear! The tights feel and look great. They came up ever so slightly big, I'm right on the cusp of small and medium, opting for the medium as these were bought to go over padded bib shorts. In hindsight, small would probably be a better fit. They kept me plenty warm enough and overall very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Sweet! I bought these just weeks ago for our west coast Canadian winter here in Vancouver. It's been between 0 and 7 degrees most days I've been out and the tights are feeling really great. I love the foot stirrup to keep the ankle and the leg smooth and well covered from wind.

Can you wear the deep winter tights over the pro team/brevet winter tights or are they to be specifically worn over shorts?

Asked by: Mattyrey91
You could wear them over another set of tights though you may choose to take a size up if that is what you wish to use them for.

I'm a 5'4" woman--wear a S or M in women's Rapha products. I'm interested in these tights, but uncertain about sizing. Any advice? I have a 27" waist, 38" hips, and muscular thighs. Worried S might be too long in torso, but XS too narrow in hips/legs.

Asked by: kshg
Hi, based on your measurements and comments, we recommend you try an x-small. As always, we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.
