Classic design, unbeatable comfort

Cycling shorts are the most important clothing purchase any rider can make. Get them right and every kilometre that passes beneath your tyres will be a pleasure; get them wrong, and every kilometre will be an ordeal.

Building on our best-selling Classic Bib Shorts, version II features an updated, body-contoured pad with three sizes spread across the range to ensure perfect fit from XS to XXL.

The shorts are made from a soft Lycra to allow exceptional freedom of movement, while the bib straps are constructed from a luxury mesh material, with a large cutaway section in the back to prevent overheating. Flatlock stitching ensures all seams lie completely flat to deter chafing, and a new leg gripper provides better grip at a reduced weight.

Reviews

“There's no more important a product for cycling happiness than a comfortable pair of padded bib shorts. Rapha has updated its best-selling Classic bib shorts with some refinements that ensure they're still one of the best and most comfortable pairs on the market.”
★★★★★ David Arthur, Road.cc »
“There's a reason for calling things "classic' and these are it. These are a go-to pair of bibs.”
The Riddla, Chicago
“The fabric certainly feels comfortable against the skin, and the flatlocked seams ensure there is no rubbing or chafing. The open back does a good job of releasing excess heat, avoiding sweaty dampness. The shorts are now fitted with a new, body contouring pad, which in itself is a pretty major change. This new pad is a masterclass in how a chamois should be. It has a level of support that belies its skinny nature, and it’s that skinny nature that gives it such a great fit: it’s minimal and unobtrusive yet great to sit on.”

Rapha leg and waist sizing info

Waist: natural waist measurement is taken from above the hips, close to the navel.
Inside Leg: from the crotch to the base of the ankle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable On The Bike I’ve only had about 4 rides on this pair, but so far so good. They are comfortable and fit me well. The leg grippers keep them where they should be. They run a bit small, but not like the other Italian brand does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Fit and Comfort I have admired Rapha from afar for many years and decided to make the investment. Due to travel and sickness, I was off the bike for three weeks. Perfect time to try a new kit. The bibs far exceeded my expectations. They are THE most comfortable bibs I have ever worn as I experienced little to no saddle discomfort after being off the bike for three weeks. In addition to buying another pair, I will also use these bibs under my MTB shorts on an upcoming 3 day trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy Bibs! This is my second pair of classic bibs. Most comfortable bib shorts I've worn, much better than ASSOS. The chamois is very comfortable even on longer rides. Medium fits as it should.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Good As They Say The reviews were a bit hard to believe. But these bib shorts are as good as the reviews say they are. On my first ride, I almost forgot I had them on. These are seriously great biking shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality as usual Good fit, comfortable, chamois has a large surface area, slick design, pricey but you do get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite piece of cycling clothing These bibs are the most comfortable cycle clothing. They stay where they're put. I never find myself making adjustments while on a ride. Very soft and strechy for all day comfort. And, one of my favorite features is the ease for nature breaks. Can't recommend enough!

Hi there, I have an inseam of 35" and a waste of 33", at 6'4 I weigh about 77kg, something like that, tall and slim, I would like to purchase bib shorts for long rides, up to 100 miles, please can you advise between classic II and core and size?

Asked by: I like riding
The Classics and the Core both have a relaxed fit and would be appropriate for 100 mile plus rides. Based on the dimensions you have listed you should fit a Large pair of these Bib Shorts.

What is the main difference between the Classic II bibs and the Core? I am looking to purchase a pair of bibs for 80 to 100 mile ride, which would be best? Also, I love the fit of the Pro Team bibs.

Asked by: Pretty Tony
Hi, the Classic are built with long distances in mind, as are the Brevet. The Core are a more affordable option which fall in fit between the Brevet and the Pro Team. Though with the Core you will get the exact same quality chamois pad as the Classic Bib Shorts. Do bear in mind that the Pro Team are designed with high tempo riding in mind where riders will spend longer on the drops in a forward and aggressive position.

Look to buy for London 2 Paris in 24hrs, currently use Assos S5 Mille in large they fit well.  How do these compare in sizing?  I am 5'9" 30" inseam 35" waist.  Other questions that have been asked get an answer of L or XL (e.g.rapha_SC)

Asked by: FuriousD
The Classic Bib Shorts have a traditional non-race fit and based on the dimensions you have provided a Large size should be the appropriate fit.
