ßLightweight, packable, weather-resistant insulation

Long-distance riders can encounter a full range of weather conditions, so a lightweight layer that is both warm and packable is essential. The Brevet Insulated Jacket provides exceptional warmth, while highly breathable Polartec® Alpha® insulation ensures you won’t overheat during harder efforts. Extensively tested across a range of conditions: from the Transcontinental race across Europe, to the cold summits of Australia’s snowy mountains.

This versatile jacket is made for days when the weather is hard to predict. The fast-drying and hydrophobic properties of Polartec® Alpha® mean the jacket won’t hold water like natural down insulation and with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating you can watch the rain roll off.

Soft, brushed jersey side panels add warmth and allow the jacket to stretch over full pockets, while reflective detailing increases visibility in low light. When not in use the jacket rolls up neatly, secured by an elasticated loop at the neck.

Karen Whittier, product manager for insulation at Polartec, explains the science behind Polartec® Alpha®:

Polartec® Alpha® was engineered as an active insulation to regulate core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This ‘adaptive’ breathability helps to eliminate the need for shedding or adding layers while on the move, making it ideal for cycling.

By keeping moisture vapour moving freely through the fabric, it increases overall air exchange and drastically speeds up dry times, providing thermal regulated comfort. Polartec® Alpha® is also highly compressible, made with a stable core that prevents ‘fibre migration’ to keep a uniform consistency, even after heavy wear and repeated laundering.

“Rapha's Brevet collection continues to grow and gain popularity with cyclists keen on going the distance or just boosting their visibility in low light, and the new Insulated Jacket with its excellent Polartec Alpha insulation is a particularly fine addition to the range.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Expected My first Rapha jacket ever bought . Not yet tested on rainy weather , but so far a really stylish and comfortable jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable I love this jacket for winter riding. It’s really comfortable when riding and the insulation on the front with venting on the sleeves is perfect for warmth and airflow. I use for commuting 4 times a week. I also use the Brevet gilet as a second layer during Jan/Feb and the Classic rain jacket when the weather turns wet or goes below zero. I find Rapha runs a little small, I’m 5’11 slim build and went for the large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great midweight jacket with options for layering I’m a few rides in with the jacket and it’s been good to me, though I almost returned it for fear of the super breatheable arm sections, which will feel quite chilly on cold starts, until you warm up. I’ve ridden this jacket from 50° to 32°F and it works well with in that range with a short sleeve jersey, for tempo+ rides. Below 32° and you’ll want a long sleeve base layer/jersey or a wind jacket. I’m 6’ 175lb and was between a medium and large, but went large for winter layering. Sleeves are long, but can easily be cuffed under. The jacket rolls up well and the reflective hits are great. It looks like a cafe racer jacket, so one could almost pull it off as a commuter jacket, too. My only change would be to wrap the windblock fabric an inch further inside the front length of the arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very nice jacket Wind proof where it needs to be, ventilated and breathable where it needs to be. Rolls up small enough to fit tightly in a jersey pocket. The small zip pocket will not accommodate a smartphone, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely jacket Had it for 3 months ,Highly recommended for winter and early spring riding, with merino base layer and jerseys it will keep you warm around 0 to 3 and above , not sure about the water proof capabilities for long ride in the rain, is ok for short shower

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, sleek and cosy My winter kit has some of my favorite pieces in, and now I have a new favorite. This keeps the worst of the (Hong Kong) cold weather out and my unique odor in. Amazingly it seems to fit my 6'3" narrow body and ape-like arms very well, and looks great to boot. Sadly it doesn't offer any special powers and the rear pocket wasn't stuffed with cash like I hoped it would. But you can't have it all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, lightwieght and surprisingly waterproof So far so good. Have ridden it on two rides. One of 3 hours in dry but cold (4 deg c conditions) and with only a merino base underneath and a second of 5 hours in 0 deg rain and sleet. Both times I was kept warm, didn't overheat and even in the constant rain the water didn't make its way through. So, it not only performs it looks great too especially in the Dark Navy colourway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great layer for Winter rides Another great addition to my winter layering from Rapha. Thin enough to go under my outer jacket but really adds warmth when biking through those chilly Yorkshire Dales!

what is the temperature range for this brevet jacket?

Asked by: JC1970
Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties. Though I can say from personal experience and feedback from many customers and colleagues that this can be worn from Autumn all the way till Spring. I'd say this is the perfect 3 seasons jacket.

Hi Rapha - what's warmer Brevet Insulated Jacket or Pro Team insulated jacket?

Asked by: EdHeD
Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature ranges as it differs on individuals preference. We find the Pro Team Insulated Jacket best suitable for high tempo rides and the Brevet Insulated Jacket best suitable longer rides.

How it could be folded, would it be folded like a small bag?

Asked by: Brevet insulated jacket
Hi, we suggest zipping up and folding as you would in a store. Lay flat, left quarter in and arm in, right quarter in and arm in, fold bottom half towards the neck and then roll from that bottom half up and lace the elastic band from the neck over the rolled up jacket.

Asked by: mikemro
You can zip the jacket up, fold it in half and roll from the bottom nice and tight and then you will be able to place the loop over the bundle for this to go into your Jersey pocket.
