RCC Summit Japan

5-8 June, 2020

Welcome to the hub page of the upcoming Rapha Cycling Club Summit. We are delighted to host this Summit in the small mountain town of Hokuto, where Rapha Japan has had its office for over ten years.

Visiting in June, the RCC will arrive as the last of the winter snow recedes and the green shoots of spring emerge. Located at the centre of Japan’s mountainous spine, there will be a range of winding passes to tackle, as well as equally beautiful but less intense routes, all put together by our local team. Please use this page to plan your trip with us and check back regularly as we update the page with all of the details for the Summit.

The current coronavirus situation is extremely serious. At present, the Summit is due to go ahead as planned. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep guests updated as a matter of course.

In the meantime, we would encourage members to check the terms and conditions for any parts of the trip not arranged by Rapha, such as air tickets and travel insurance policies, to fully understand rights in the event that you cannot travel to the Summit or the Summit being cancelled.

All attendees will receive an exclusive RCC Summit Jersey on arrival. Please note, we can only guarantee your preferred size if you complete the Summit Japan Guest survey by 1st March 2020.

Thank you for completing our Summit guest survey. If you wish to update your responses, please email where the team will endeavor to accommodate your request where possible.

How to get there

Our Summit hotel, the Royal Hotel Yatsugatake, is two to three hours west of Tokyo by road or rail. The nearest train station to the Summit hotel is Kai Oizumi Station on the JR Koumi Line, one of Japan’s most scenic mountain railways. The nearest express train station is Kobuchizawa on the JR Chuo Express Line. Royal Hotel Yatsugatake provides a Free Shuttle Bus from the local station.

A limited number of pre-bookable transfers from Tokyo to our Summit hotel will be offered on Friday morning, along with a limited return transfer service on Monday lunchtime and afternoon. Bike boxes/bags can be accommodated, but availability may be limited.

Bike rentals

Should you wish to leave your bike at home, a limited number of top-end rental bikes – made for riding in the mountains, farm tracks and on gravel roads – will be available. If you may be interested in Bike Rental for the Summit Japan weekend, please state this when completing your Summit Guest questionnaire.

You will then receive further details by email on the fleet of bikes available and details of how to reserve yours for collection on Friday from 12noon and return on Monday afternoon.

Bike Rental will not be available before 5th June or after 8th June.

Royal Hotel Yatsugatake will be our Summit hotel from 5th - 8th June 2020. Offering spacious bedrooms and function spaces, this traditionally Japanese hotel viewed as “retro” or “quirky” also offers the following benefits for you to enjoy during your Summit:

Japanese Onsen Experience
You can find both outdoor and indoor hot springs in Royal Hotel Yatsugatake. The indoor public bath is equipped with a sauna as well. Please note, tattoos must be covered.

Royal Hotel Yatsugatake is located in a mountainous land, with beautiful scenery. Since it has its own rooftop observatory, you can explore the stars from close-up.
