A jacket for flash showers in the city

A three-layer jacket that will always be on hand when the weather turns and is light enough to pack away discreetly, making the Packable Waterproof Jacket ideal for emergency deployment.

Made from the same lightweight nylon fabric used in our Core rain jacket, the garment has water resistant and windproof properties and a discreet hi-vis collar with reflective branding tucked under the top collar. The jacket sleeves incorporate Rapha’s hi-vis signalcuff system, which can be hidden when not in use, while contrast internal tape has been used to cover seams.

The Packable Waterproof Jacket is cut to provide a classic silhouette and features covered zip pockets to the front. The Aquaguard zip fastens up to a funnel neck with snap closure and a dropped tail provides protection from road spray while riding.

Run the tape around the narrowest part of your waist holding the tape horizontally.

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest point of the hip, keeping the tape measure horizontal.

I've been kept dry and sheltered from the wind on 40-50min journeys and found the jacket to have good breathability. The pockets on the front are roomy enough for a phone or wallet when off the bike. The jacket looks smart when worn cutting about

The reflective panels can be reversed to match the colour of the jacket for casual use which makes it a real winner. Buyers should note that this jacket is more suited to commuting as it is a looser fit compared to Rapha's race wear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Giddy with my purchase To get to work nowadays, it's actually not worth getting the bike out and ready - I know I could extend my ride but that's another story for another day - so with our inclement weather I need something to keep the chill out during an early morning walk or keep me dry for inevitable showers. This does both, and very well. Great looking and well made. I love the Rapha touches - pink cuffs and collar - and the colour I bought (not the pale blue but a silvery/metal colour) is super cool. Very happy. Even more Rapha converted, if that's possible. Although not the right forum I would like to ask why you don't do 38" waists anymore, my hips aren't snakey enough for 36" (which aren't much different to a 38", anyway, in my opinion). I miss my Randonée shorts and you don't sell 38". Sort it for the new seasons, please.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says I bought this as an outer layer to keep me dry and warm and it does exactly that. Feels very cosy and keeps out the wind and rain perfectly. A little snug on the arms with a thickish jumper, and I also struggle to do up the zip fully if I wear anything with a collar, but generally an excellent quality product for a reasonable price. Slightly unsure about the pink on the sleeves though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super light weight and waterproof Great jacket, very stylish and lightweight. Also like that it’s waterproof and not just shower resistant. Negatives are: long arms, I know you need them slightly longer for when riding, but even then the xxl (which if you’re not super skinny and a regular Build equates to a large) is silly. Also the collar does irritate my neck as it’s slightly too tall. Overall a great jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect. This has very quickly become one of my favourite Rapha products. It’s lightweight, nicely tailored, and functions very well against wind and rain. It’s slim fitting but not excessively so. I really like the orange colour too. The cuffs are quite narrow, and, generally speaking, you couldn’t wear too much bulky clothing underneath. I’m going to aim for just a winter baselayer underneath when it gets colder, though a good fitting shirt would also work well. I love it.

hi i am 42in chest 5ft 8in tall should i go for the large or xl?is the jacket cut looser than normal?thanks

We would recommend a Large as the XL would be too large with flapping excess around the arms and chest

What is the waterpoof rating of the fabric?

Hi, this is not a waterproof fabric as such but more of a splashproof material that will get you home when caught in a shower. Thanks

What is the weight of this jacket and how small does it pack down?

Hi, we don’t like to specify weight per garment as this can change marginal from piece to piece as well as size to size but I can confirm that the material is 72gsm which is really light for a 3 layer material. Regarding packability we suggest a long length half fold and again sleeves folded in and then roll down tightly, if neatly and tightly folded it will fit into a jersey back pocket.

Core Rain Jacket verses Packable Waterproof Jacket...I'm looking for a road cycling specific rain jacket. 1) do they fit the same? 2) any difference in waterproof/resistant functionality? 3) weight and packability difference?

Hi, the Core Rain Jacket and the Packable Waterproof Jacket are completely different in design and fit. The first is more of a road cycling fit and the second is a city/commuter fit. The material is very similar on both which means they are both equal in their waterproof qualities.The Core Rain Jacket is slightly lighter but they are both easily packable.

How breathable and warm is the jacket? I live in equator with temperature ranging between 28 - 33 c and lots of rain? Would I be overheated with the jackets?

Hi, under those conditions we suggest you would be better off with a light garment that will protect you from some rain but also dry quicker as you may find this jacket too hot for riding in 28 - 33 c.

Is this made of one of those really soft materials, or is it stiffer... I like the way that the lightweight transfer jacket feels, for instance.

This Jacket Lightweight uses nylon fabric and provides breathable protection. This is also lightweight and packable which means the material will be of a soft material.

Is this jacket waterproof or water resistant? There is a conflict in some of the product copy.

The Jacket uses an Aquaguard fabric that is both windproof and Water resistant. Waterproof Structures surround the zips and the cuffs to prevent ingress at these points
