Fifty years ago, cycling’s world championships took place in the British city of Leicester where a new star of the sport was born. Wearing a jersey very similar to this one made in his honour, Belgian rider Jean-Pierre Monseré became the second youngest world champion ever. His career might well have matched that of Merckx, but his life was cut tragically short. This jersey pays homage to all that he achieved during his brief but hugely successful career.

Made with a luxurious blend of merino wool, the jersey would not have looked out of place on the startline fifty years ago. Amid the traditional light blue, the colours of the Belgian flag are emblazoned proudly across the chest. And since this jersey commemorates a defining victory, the order of the bands on the sleeves is reversed.
