Description

These stylish, slim-fitting shorts are made from a lightweight, breathable fabric and are designed for city riding in hot and humid conditions. The fabric is quick drying, has excellent stretch and is also crease resistant, making the shorts ideal for travelling.

The shorts feature crisp tailoring, including a smart, flat front and fly closure, with a high-cut back to ensure a great fit when riding. In addition to two front pockets, the back of the shorts feature one zipped pocket and one button-down pocket. Visibility details include a fold away hi-vis tab and hi-vis trim inside the legs which can be hidden away when not riding. Offset inseams guarantee comfort.

The cut of these Rapha City Shorts is more generous than in previous seasons. For the perfect fit we recommend downsizing by one size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent shorts, with only a minor issue These shorts replace the generally excellent Touring Shorts from some years back. They improve upon the Touring Shorts in every regard, except in the fact the Randonnee shorts do not have any ability to adjust the size. For me, this is a bit of an issue as I’m between a 32-30. However, where these have improved immensely upon the Touring Shorts is with the available pockets. They are absolutely excellent. The overall wuality is exceptional on these shorts and I expect them to last even longer than my Touring Shorts, which are entering their 6th year of lots of use! As always. An exemplary Rapha product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from irregular sizes I love these shorts but the waist size of the shorts is different with almost every pair of shorts I order; a 32 feels like a 30, another 32 feels like a 34 and sometimes a 32 actually feels like a 32!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Near perfect shorts Love these all day long. Super comfortable, practical, and sharp. The zip pockets are ideal. My only wish is that these were available in odd sizes, 30 being a bit too tight and 32 a bit too loose. But they are otherwise near perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and tough Sizing: interesting - I'm a 33" normally and after trying a 30 and a 34, settled on the 32. It is a bit large at the waist (maybe an inch?) but the 30" was too tight on bum and legs but good at the waist, and I'd rate myself average in leg muscle for a cyclist. The shorts sit low-ish so if I'm standing up straight, a Rapha Pro Team jersey is about an inch above the shorts at the front. So just need to ride all the time or wear nicks with that jersey! Comfort: very good - I've ridden it in Sydney on some of the warmer spring days and I've not noticed any warmth, so it breathes Toughness: very good - came off the bike going fast round a corner two days ago and slid across two road lanes. The leg was very badly bruised but the shorts only had a couple of cuts in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic material The fabric of these shorts are 2nd to none. Really comfy for the summer, on and off the bike. Great that all the pockets are zipped as well. rapha recommends to go for one size smaller but I'm not sure if it's exactly one size different. Anyway I did go for one down and they fit ;)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shorts Overall the shorts are great, the one thing that bothers me is the clothing button on the left back pocket. Although it looks great as a feature, if you want to carry your wallet or phone in there it’s a hassle to open/close it. Now I tend to leave it open at all times, which doesn’t look as great. As for sizing, Rapha recommends to get the smaller size as they tend to be larger, which I don’t think is right. I’m usually a 31 so went with the 30 and it barely fits without being uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny Wish I'd pulled the trigger on these years ago... When mates started turning up to rides wearing these shorts - and raving about them - I was skeptical about the value even though I owned other Rapha gear. But... they're amazingly comfortable and practical. I bought them for adventure rides but now wear them everywhere... on and off the bike. In terms of value, it really is a no brainer because they're cheaper than a good set of bibs and come with pockets. Quick tip: go a size down to what you'd usually buy in other brands.

Do these shorts have adjustable waistband? Ie. can it be tightened like some touring shorts   I don’t fancy wearing a belt on the bike.

They are designed to be worn as normal shorts, however a size up, they could be worn with Bib Shorts.

hi. this randonnee is of "lightweight material for hot and humid" conditions. how does this compare with the cotton summer lightweight shorts (170gsm material)? which one would you wear for touring or leisure riding in the tropics?

The Randonee Shorts would be better suited for this type of riding as the Cotton Shorts would not expel the additional moisture in the atmosphere associated with hot and humid climates. The Randonee short has a better moisture management system.

Someone asked a reasonable question about what the material was. The answer—"These Shorts are made of a quick-drying lightweight stretch man-made fibre"— doesn't cut it. What are these made of?
