Description

Our first base layer to feature a fabric with a permanent antibacterial finish, the Brevet Base Layer is designed specifically for the rigours of long-distance riding. Constructed with silver coated ion yarn, the fabric inhibits the growth of bacteria to keep you fresh and odour free, day after day. With prototypes worn every day for two weeks at an unsupported, ultra-distance race through Europe in 2016, this base layer is proven to keep going as long as you do.

Featuring signature brevet stripes, the base layer is designed to be worn with or without a jersey and provides comfort in a wide range of temperatures. Sweat-wicking properties keep you cool on the bike whilst the quick-drying fabric makes it easy to wash and dry, ready for tomorrow’s ride. This base layer is an all-round addition that is most at home when you’re not.

1 CHEST

Using a tape measure, take the total measurement around the fullest part of your chest, holding the tape horizontally.

2 WAIST

Run the tape around the narrowest part of your waist holding the tape horizontally.

3 HIPS

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest point of the hip, keeping the tape measure horizontal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great base layer Bought it as the style was great and matched my long sleeve jersey. It's a very nice base layer with an excellent anatomic fit. I like the slightly longer sleeves that are made by Rapha as it stays better on the arms. I'm a medium on the brevet jersey but ended up needing a large (one size up) up for this one. The medium would have fit utrn it would have been very very tight (like crazy race tight). The size up is still very tight but won't turn my arms blue due to the lack of blood just to gain 0.25 watts. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super stretch, Super nice First off all I bought this because of the colour, but when I put it on the fit is ..well perfection, it's a close fit almost proteam and the material is super stretchy without looking see through, I am 5'6" 11 stone and the Medium fits to perfection, and Iam sure it will last a while, it's very soft against the skin almost a second skin, perfect and looks good as a t shirt/hot weather base layer,Typical Rapha quality once again,definately recommended

I got this for a base layer put also to wear while training indoor - after a workout session and dripping with sweat I hung the shirt to dry to test the order free feature that Rapha was advertising. Next morning, was dry and order free- I was so impressed!! It never smells even after using it for a week. Will be taking it on biking packing!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nicely Made--Runs Small The Brevet base layer is very well made, great weight for the cooler days here in the Northwest. However, the product does run small. Confining the size using the sizing chart and and based my other Rapha base layer (Merino), I selected medium. When it arrived, I tried it on. It was really, really tight. I do like base layers to fit a bit snug, but this was definitely beyond snug to uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great technical lightweight base layer A great base layer that is exactly as described. I bought this to match with a Brevit windblock jersey. The two together give massive flexibility in coping with a variety of weather conditions. The base layer is very thin and comfortable to wear and adds a surprising level of warmth when matched to a variety of jerseys. I wear Large in all Rapha garments with the exception of merino base layers and this Brevit base layer where a Medium is the perfect fit. It you like a close fitting base layer I would consider a size down form normal as the fabrics stretches easily to hug the body. The garment drys quickly after washing but treat with care as the fabric is thin and delicate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Marginally odor-reistant base layer Not remotely odor-proof. Took on a mild funk after a single ride. Can't imagine it holding up for more than 2. The summer-weight base layer picks up odors much ,much faster so this is an improvement but I think all of Rapha's wool base layers are better choices.

Are the reflective stripes on the dark olive shirt a subdued color. The pictures hint that they are.

On this particular garment the stripes aren't reflective, but they are normally reflective in a more subdued colour.

I’m using large for Jersey? What size do I use for base layer? Do I go for medium or large? But I want my base layer tight

Hi, looking at sizing guide I am 41inch chest, I am a medium for base layer but large for brevet windblock jacket - is this correct ?

Hi, because fit is not just dependent on height and weight but mostly on each body shape and customer's personal preference to how customer's prefer garments to fit, it is hard for us to be exact in sizing advice. Also, we do not do a Brevet Windblock Jacket so unsure as to what item you refer to here. Should you need to exchange or refund, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused garments with tags and in saleable condition.

Hi, How is the sizeing compared to proteam mesh baselayer? I am 187cm/80kg/chest 100cm and using the size L in the proteam mesh baselayer. I even have the merino baselayer but they are way to big for me in size L (and allmost to big in size M too) Thanks!

What is the temperature range over which this Brevet remains comfortable. I ride mostly in Lagos where temperatures can run as high as 37 degrees centigrade and humidity as high as 100%

Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties. Though as you mention 37 degrees, we do suggest a sleeveless base layer to start with. Should you need to exchange or refund, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused garments with tags and in saleable condition.

I am confused the description states..."Marrying the performance of our fast-wicking, quick-drying Pro Team base layers with the all-day comfort of soft merino" but the Fabric description is "82% polyester 18% elastane". Is there any merino ?

Hi, there is no Merino and the quote is just likening the comfort (fit, stretch and antibacterial properties) of the fabric in comparison to our Classic Merino Baselayers. The fit is also comparable to our Classic Merino Base Layers.
