Lightweight, packable and water-resistant insulation

Long-distance riders often encounter a wide range of conditions, so a lightweight layer that is both warm and packable is essential. The Insulated Brevet Gilet provides exceptional warmth, while highly breathable Polartec Alpha insulation ensures you won’t overheat during harder efforts.

The gilet features reflective detailing for visibility, and a water-shedding DWR (durable water repellent) coating for added protection in rain showers. Thanks to the hydrophobic properties of the Polartec Alpha insulation, the gilet wont saturate in the same way that natural down insulation will, and is quick drying. Mesh side panels stretch to fit over full pockets and a zip placket keeps out the wind, and when not in use, the gilet rolls into an elasticated loop at the neck to stay tightly stored. Please note that the two-way zip included on this product at launch has been replaced by a standard zip.

Karen Whittier, product manager for insulation at Polartec, explains the science behind Polartec Alpha:

Polartec Alpha was engineered as an active insulation to regulate core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This ‘adaptive’ breathability helps eliminate the need for shedding or adding layers while on the move, making it ideal for cycling.

By keeping moisture vapour moving freely through the fabric, it increases overall air exchange and drastically speeds up dry times, providing thermal regulated comfort. Polartec Alpha is also highly compressible, made with a stable core… that prevents ‘fibre migration’ to keep a uniform consistency, even after heavy wear and repeated laundering.

Reviews

“The Rapha Brevet Insulated Gilet performs exceptionally well in typical British spring/autumn weather. With a weight and packability that belies its warmth and weather protection, the Brevet should be top of your list.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking, versatile functional piece Versatile piece for chilly SF mornings. Warmer than standard gilet. Design and color combination is great looking and high viz so it's great for the AM commute. I pair it with the Brevet Windblock Jersey on cooler mornings. Big thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gilet for cold, dry conditions. I bought this gilet about a month ago and have worn it a number of times in cold, windy conditions (0 - 5 C). It has kept my core warm and I’ve never overheated in it even during high intensity riding. I live in an area that gets lots of wind in the fall, winter and spring with temperatures ranging from 0 - 10 C so I expect to be using this gilet a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Comfortable I’ve had this Brevet for about two months now and LOOOVE IT! Perfect for Colorado weather here where temps can change pretty quick if the clouds move in. Allows you to keep your core regulated without over heating even if the temps warm up. Plus it’s super packable if you need to remove it

What is temp range for this gilet?

Asked by: Mefju
Hi, as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties. And this gilet in particular can be used in a variety of combinations, even on a colder English summer morning with a short sleeve jersey or in the winter on top of a softshell.

This vests runs large or small? In pro team i usually wear M, and in classic i wear S. Which size you suggest to choose?

Asked by: CarlosAGU
The Brevet range fits the same as the Classic, so we would suggest choosing the Small on this occasion
