In line with the Rapha Brevet collection, this bar tape has been designed and developed with distance in mind. The 2.8mm thick rubber material used to make the tape is comfortable, durable and grippy, perfectly suited for longer rides, whatever the weather. Being a slightly greater thickness than our other tapes, the Brevet Bar Tape absorbs the bumps and buzz of the road for a comfortable ride. Other innovative features include two aluminium bar plugs, which screw securely into the bar ends, and reflective and hi-vis stripes to ensure 360° visibility on your bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, durable bar tape Enough tape is provided to comfortably wrap 44cm bars and although the tape's thickness makes getting a smooth, consistent wrap slightly more time consuming it's in no way difficult to fit. Once on its comfortable and offers good grip in all conditions. The padding takes some of the sting out of rough tarmac and light gravel, but good mits are still required if you've got anything adventurous in mind. The reflective detailing works quite well in poor light and the pink highlights look good when the sun's out. Durability's good too, with the tape outlasting other brands. All in all, it's hard to fault and I've bought several rolls over the last couple of years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fashion and Function I really like the feel of this tape it is high quality and nice and thick with a very soft comfortable feel. I especially like the reflective properties. It is a little challenging to work with when installing but with patience and slow and steady maneuvering it is possible. The end caps that came didn't fit with my particular bar because the inside had a lip which was to close to the end, however I was able to find another cap that worked. Because it is so thick it is a little bit of a challenge getting the caps to stay but with a tap of the hammer and a screwdriver it works :).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Padding + visibility I have found the rest of Rapha's brevet collection to meet my standards of comfort, so I was excited to try this tape. It is so well padded that I had a little trouble wrapping it in an attractive manner, but I was able to fit it eventually. The reflective bits are very bright, which I didn't fully realize until I went into my garage one night with a flashlight. Unfortunately, I could not get the bar-end plugs to properly tension, so I used some others that I had in the parts bin. After a couple of brevets, I am happy to say that my hands were less numb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy! Bought this in preparation for a 760km ride down the east coast of Malaysia. Compared to my previous tape it was noticeably more comfortable on long rides. Got it installed by a shop after reading the other reviews. It didn't stop the nerves in palms from compressing or the surface from mildly blistering (I wouldn't have expected it to..) but it did make grabbing the handlebars each morning that bit more enjoyable. Looks awesome on the bike, too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great but.... Great bar tape but getting a neat start at the bar end is a nightmare as the tape is so thick. Took a good few attempts and ended up resorting to shaving off a section of the foam backing to enable the tape to fold neatly into the bar and fit the bar end. Once on it looks and feels great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great looking bartape but lacking in areas. this is fantastic looking and grippy bar tape with highly reflective sub layer that reflects through the perforations and along with the neon pink, really stands out. the alloy bar end plugs are of high quality locking type, yet lack the rapha logo unfortunately. The downfalls of this tape is that is by far the worst tape I have ever applied, and I've tried plenty. on tight radius bars it is too thick to apply without wanting to splay at each overlap, If you cover the overlap with too much tape then there is a gap under each wrap and the sticky portion isn't adhering to the actual bar. when it comes to tucking the tape in the bar end it is so thick that it doesn't want to tuck in behind the end plug. Finally, the reflective finishing tape cannot take any stretch as it snaps, however I could have avoided that had I have used insulation tape first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp and Reflective I bought this tape to pair with my new Allied Echo that is burgundy and fluoro pink colored. The fluoro-pink highlights of this tape tie in really well with that color scheme. And the reflective highlights add visibility between dusk and dawn, and makes for a nice safety enhancement. It also seems to be quite durable - after several months there is no sign of wear and tear. It's not exactly cushy, but there's enough there that isolates your hands from too much feedback from the road. It's definitely been worth the money for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfy As said before, it is a bit tricky to apply so I took my time. Once it is on it feels awesome, the bar plugs are great too. It is a bit tacky but that's what I like. The 3M tape to finish up is top and reflective in the dark, but in the end I replaced it with the usual black elctrical tape to match the colour of my bike.

Would this tape be a good match for gravel riding?

I am considering the Brevet bar tape and several old reviews note difficulty with getting  the caps on due to tape’s thickness. Has this been rectified? And what colour are the reflective dots?

Difficulty getting the caps on will vary from bike to bike depending on the handlebars and how they are wrapped. This bar tape has not been altered in terms of thickness. The reflective dots are pink and grey.

Could it be possible the writing on mine is upside down?

The writing on the bar tape will be upright against the pink detail. There is an image on our product page in our website. This writing will not be visible when the tape once the bar tape is rolled on to each side of the handlebars.
