What sort of terrain can I expect?
The terrain, difficulty level, and ideal bike for each Escape varies. Gravel features in some of them, while others tackle hilly terrain. On each event description page, there will be full details of both the terrain and difficult level. Escapes are supportive environments, but we do ask all members to consider the difficulty and terrain before joining.
Will start and end locations be disclosed for accommodation purposes?
The escapes’ locations are included on the event description page. The specific location will be shared with participants via email at least one month in advance. Accommodation is included with some Escapes, which will be stipulated on the event description page.
Is it an A to B route or a loop?
This will vary for each event, but the majority of our 2022 events start and end in a similar location. Check the event page for more details.
What is the purchase deadline?
The purchasing deadline for each event is listed on the event description page. Typically, purchase deadlines are one month before the event takes place. Please note that places on Escapes are limited.
If I don’t receive a place, will there be a waitlist?
Along with Prestiges and Summits, all riders can register their interest at the start of the year. We aim to build a more equitable group on all of our trips and experiences, so we may prioritise certain groups to reach parity. We will be keeping waitlists and, should a spot open ahead of the event, we’ll be reaching out to those who would like to participate in the event.
Can I join an Escape on my own?
Escapes are designed to allow RCC members to gather and socialise. Although there may be a strong number of attendees from the local Chapter or region, we welcome solo riders from further afield to join the ride and connect with their Club. These rides should be a melting pot for all our members and a place to form lasting friendships. Ride Leaders will be on-hand to help to facilitate smaller groups and differing levels of fitness. We advise you to assess your ability for the terrain and difficulty level before joining and arrive with a self-sufficient attitude.
Will GPX be provided?
Yes, the routes will be shared within a week of the event. Routes may be shared with the broader Club afterwards.
Will an itinerary be provided?
Yes, an itinerary will be shared within a week of the event.
What is covered by the price of admission?
Please check the individual event tickets for what costs are covered. Generally, the price of admission covers mapped routes, Ride Leader support, event goodies, and some light refreshments, with some Escapes providing accommodation. The price of admission covers entry for one participant.
Am I eligible for a refund or exchange?
If you can no longer attend the Escape, we cannot guarantee a refund. We will endeavour to facilitate a ticket swap with a rider on the event waiting list in some cases. Please contact Customer Service, who will put you in touch with the event organiser directly.
