Hub for Rapha Cycling Club's Summit in Bentonville Arkansas, USA 2022

RCC Summit Hub Bentonville

October 7 - 10

We are thrilled that you’ll be joining us for our first-ever gravel Summit based in Bentonville. Our itinerary has been curated by our local team, who are looking forward to sharing all that Northwest Arkansas has to offer. Please check this page regularly to plan your Summit – from getting to know the weekend’s routes to making your travel arrangements, all the info you’ll need will be here. We look forward to riding and exploring together this October.

If you have not already done so, every guest in your party must complete a Summit questionnaire so we can ensure a seamless weekend experience.

Bentonville is served by the Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA). To fully participate in the Summit, please arrange your in-bound flight to arrive by 12:00 pm CST on Friday, October 7. Your outbound flight should depart no earlier than 2:00 pm CST on Monday, October 10.

Airport-hotel shuttles are complimentary and will run during the following hours, on a 30-45 minute cycle:

Thursday, October 6 - 10am - 6pm
Friday, October 7 - 8am - 6pm
Monday, October 10 - 8am - 6pm

Bikes are included in the shuttle service; please ensure your bike is properly packed into a bike bag or box.

If you are arriving outside these established transfer hours, we recommend Pinnacle Car Services, Ambassador Car Services or Jim’s Express to arrange an airport transfer. Each of these services have vehicles large enough to accommodate bike bags.

Uber and Lyft are also available throughout the area. Your transfer should cost roughly $40-70 depending on your party size and time of day.

The Summit will be based at the 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Bentonville. Part boutique hotel, part contemporary art gallery, 21c is a short walk from many of the region’s best restaurants, breweries, coffee shops and art galleries. See below for our guide to the area.

As of September 13, additional room nights at 21c are extremely limited. If you are planning to extend your stay and have not contacted us yet, please email as soon as possible.

An RCC hospitality desk will be available throughout the weekend in Gallery One, staffed to answer questions and make recommendations.

With its extensive network of single track trails, gravel paths and paved roads, Northwest Arkansas is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new destinations in the U.S. to experience by bike. The Ozark Mountains boast some of the highest peaks outside the Rockies and Appalachia, with huge expanses of rich, green forest and rolling hills. Hidden within, you’ll find a landscape of narrow, steep-sided gorges and crystal clear lakes – creating a perfect playground of tarmac, gravel and singletrack to explore.

And beyond world-class cycling, Bentonville is home to must-see art collections, award-winning dining, microbreweries and craft coffee. We’ve created a map of the area to help you plan your time in Bentonville.

Visit the Oz Trails more about Northwest Arkansas’ world-class shared-use trail system. Members of the Oz Trails team will join us throughout the weekend.

To ride Bentonville’s mixed-terrain routes, you’ll need to bring a gravel bike with a minimum of 36mm wide tires. We will offer daily secure bike concierge as well as professional mechanics throughout the weekend. Gravel bike hire options in Bentonville are extremely limited so we highly recommend bringing your bike. Contact for more information on bike hire

- Helmet
- Pedals
- Shoes
- Lights
- Pocket pump
- Spare tubes / puncture repair
- Cycling computers with routes uploaded (see route notes below)
- Spare derailleur hanger (strongly suggested as these are specific to your frame and may not be available locally)

Autumn in Bentonville offers ideal cycling conditions, with average temperatures ranging from low 50s to the mid 70s. We recommend layering as the temperatures this time of year are variable. Most rides will start off cool and be warm by mid morning, though chilly temperatures and rain are not out of the question. For our evening gatherings, we recommend Rapha casual clothing and a jacket, as nights can be on the cool side.

- Short and long sleeve jerseys
- Bib shorts and base layers
- Arm and leg warmers
- Gilet, wind jacket
- Rain jacket
- Wet weather overshoes
- Mid-weight gloves

Packing Tips from Our Summit Mechanic:

We suggest unmounting your derailleur, wrapping and securing it inside of the frame for safe transport.

For disc brake bikes, it’s a good idea to remove rotors prior to packing.

Look carefully for the small parts (like seat post wedges) that may get lost in transit. Secure these in a ziploc bag and attach it to the frame.

You do not need to deflate your tires for travel.

If you have SRAM eTap or AXS, remove batteries prior to travel. If you have Shimano di2, unplug the front and rear derailleurs as your battery is likely hidden in the seatpost. If you do not own a tool to do this, be sure to pull from the plug end instead of the wire.

Pack your helmet, clothing, shoes and pedals separate from your bike, in case your bike experiences delays in transit. You cannot travel with CO2 cartridges. We will have those on site along with plenty of pumps.

If you have any questions best answered by our mechanic, please contact Drew Kolb at and indicate you’re attending the RCC Summit.

- Charging units and cables
- A/B plug adaptors
- Sunscreen
- Passport
- Visas (if required)

Finally, we recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover yourself if you are unable to attend for personal, work or medical reasons.

An itinerary will be available at least two weeks prior to the event. Please check back soon for more details.

Please note that our routes and itinerary are subject to change.

Whilst all the rides are fully supported, we strongly recommend uploading the routes (linked below) to your cycling computer. It will ensure you don’t miss a turn, and is always helpful when riding somewhere less familiar.

Enjoying the ride is often about finding the right group for you. Once you check-in at Summit, we will discuss your riding style and match you with a riding group to ensure everyone finds the right fit for them.

The opening ride of the Summit offers the chance to familiarise ourselves with the area, and is a nice gentle start to the weekend. This is our team’s classic Bentonville Lunch Loop. This ride will take place all on paved roads and will give riders the opportunity to stretch the legs and meet fellow RCC members.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will ride out for a day of exploring Northwest Arkansas’s scenic gravel backroads and byways. Riders will head to the east of town where they will be treated to stunning views atop the bluffs overlooking Beaver Lake, before heading north for a BBQ lunch nestled in the hills of Missouri. We’ll have plenty of time to rest and refuel. Following the lunch stop, guests will choose from two route options. For those looking to maximise time on the bike, we’ll offer an extended version totalling nearly 100 miles. We’ll also offer a direct route back to Bentonville, where guests can relax or explore the area’s museums and attractions.

Following an early breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head out for another day of gravel exploration. This time we will depart west of town where you’ll be treated to long gravel roads that traverse the beautiful rolling hills that surround Bentonville. Lunch will once again be offered mid-route, followed by the option to head back to town or continue on for more time in the Arkansas countryside.

For those craving a bit of road cycling, we have a beautiful route that will take you east of town through Rogers and along the shores of Beaver Lake. This route is twisty with steep punchy hills but is well worth the effort. From Rogers riders will descend down to the lake taking a lap around Horseshoe Bend Park before heading back towards Bentonville.

After a long weekend of riding we will end the Summit with a short coffee spin. This route heads out to the west of town into a rural landscape. We will loop back into town via the Coler Trail Greenway where we will stop for a coffee at Aris, in the middle of the mountain bike park. We will spin at a slow pace to recover the legs before RCC Members depart on their journey home.

For those that want a taste of what makes Bentonville the mountain biking destination it is, we’ll offer a short spin around the Slaughter Pen trail system led by OZ Trails. Riders will leave straight from the hotel and land on single track right away. The OZ Trails crew will help riders with MTB technique and will guide the group around Slaughter Pen which was the first trail to be built in Bentonville and was the spark that led to the expansive trail network that the area has today.

We will post regular updates throughout the weekend in our WhatsApp Group – join the group to receive timely updates each day.
