Race ready insulation for the coldest competition

Riders and racers looking for warmth in cold conditions often have to compromise on speed by wearing a bulky, protective jacket. Not so with the all new Pro Team Insulated Jacket, a close-fitting, cold weather outer layer, which uses Polartec’s extraordinary Alpha insulation, for class-leading warmth without the volume of down. It is highly breathable, ensuring you don’t overheat during harder efforts, and fast-drying and hydrophobic, meaning the jacket won’t hold moisture like natural down insulation. A DWR-coated, windproof front keeps your chest warm, while the stretch fabric on the back ensures a great fit, as well as letting body heat out. The jacket has three pockets on the back for storing valuables, and the double-ended Vislon zip provides easy access to your jersey pockets or to help you regulate body temperature. Whether you’re training hard or warming-up pre-race, this is a game-changing new product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Surprisingly warm and light. Rode outside with just a base layer and that thing on when it was 45 deg. F outside. I was hot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top jacket I bought this jacket a few weeks ago for the cold weather and very pleased I did. Keeps you warm but not to hot and you don’t get too sweaty when riding. The fit is ok I’m usually a large in rapha but got x large so can put another laying under it in deep winter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an amazing piece of clothing. Wondered how this piece was constructed and what was the temperature range. I can say this is one of the nicest Rapha jackets I have purchased. The Polartec insulation is a loft-like insulation that doesn't add much volume at all to the jacket. This can pack down tight to fit in a rear jersey pocket easily. As for the temperature range, it's great in the early mornings here in So. Cal that dipped into the low 40's (F). Sadly the days are warming up and it may be a while before I can use it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro Team Insulated Jacket - Wearing the Future I can't get over how evolutionary this jacket feels. It's super-lightweight and pretty darn warm; think of a great wind jacket paired with the waffled lining from a North Face soft shell. It honestly feels like I'm wearing a garment from the future. Incredibly comfortable, incredibly light, it is (already) my go-to jacket. And, I say that as someone who spends way too much on cycling kit. I only received this jacket two weeks ago and have worn it four times. Those rides ranged from a high of 42 to a low of 25 (and everything in between). On the warmer ride(s) I wore the jacket with just a long-sleeve Prosecco base layer and was almost too warm. On the coldest ride I wore the long sleeve base layer and a long sleeve jersey and, again, was almost too warm; that ride topped out at 32). The jacket vents heat beautifully; although I did sweat, I never felt "wet". But, it's the lightness of the garment that really stands out; the warmth-to-weight ratio of this thing must be off the charts. Any jacket I've ever worn that was this warm was bulkier and heavier; more restrictive and less breathable. This thing feels like something you might wear on a cool 45 degree day, but it's got the insulating chops to take you comfortably below 25. I could not be happier with this purchase. Almost forgot to mention, I bought an XL. Normally I wear a Large, but I knew I wanted to be able to layer under this. I'm happy I sized up; not that the jacket runs small, but because I appreciate a little extra room on the chillier days. For comparison purposes, I'm 6'1" and 187lbs. Cyclists would say I have an "athletic" build. Normal people would say I'm a pretty skinny guy. I do not find the sleeves short.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality as always. Wore this for the first time today. It was 2-4c. Kept me very warm & did not overheat. I also had on a base layer vest & long sleeve base layer. Very light with excellent fit. Highly recommend this for cold days on the bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best Great winter jacket, the outer layer protects nicely against cold, wind and I believe rain to (I don't cycle when is raining), the best jacket I ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket for cold weather So good for cold weather that I actually bought another. Great for cold starts then stash it in the pocket when it warms up.

Looking for wind/cold/slightly damp conditions. chest 41 5'8" and 182lbs. Can't decide if this will do for temperatures between -8c to 10c.

This Jacket in a Large size would be ideal as part of a layering system for this type of ride but would recommend Pro Team Thermal Base Layer and Jersey if you are to ride in temperatures much beneath zero

Care instructions in jacket suggest hand washing, however, the online description permits a gentle machine wash. Please could you clarify as I'm a little concerned ahead of the first wash!?

Asked by: NT74
You may use the Hand Wash Cycle on your machine this will suffice but would suggest using a wash bag to protect it inside the drum.

As I likely wear this to -2C with a layer of light merino and another layer of 320 weight merino underneath, should I order a size up?

Asked by: Stephen Fast
We would recommend that you choose your normal size as the Jacket is designed to be layered

Can you explain how this jacket differs from the pro team training jacket? Does the wind proofing cover the whole arm or just the front of the arm?

Asked by: biscuit
The two Jackets have quite different construction. The Pro Team Training Jacket is made from a Thermoroubaix backed material and three-ply front panels are both water and windproof. The Insulated Jacket uses a Polartec Alpha material internally to retain warmth and a DWR to provide water resistance. If you are riding in prolonged wet weather, the Pro Team Jacket would be more suitable, while a colder, dryer ride would see the Insulated Jacket as being the better choice of Jacket
