Cold weather warmth, 10 years in the making

The Classic Winter Jacket is our most versatile bad weather jacket, redesigned for the needs of the modern rider. An evolutionary leap ahead from our Classic Softshell and Hardshell, it is the ideal garment for winter base miles, with the ability to withstand the harshest conditions on any kind of ride. Cut from Polartec® Power Shield Pro® fabric, it combines wind- and waterproofing with incredible breathability, efficiently transferring moisture vapour away from the skin while keeping the elements at bay. Added underarm zips allow for increased ventilation when the temperature, or the intensity, rises.

Designed to be used across a range of winter temperatures as part of a layering system, the Classic Winter Jacket features hi-vis detailing for riding in low light, as well as taped seams, waterproof zips and elastane inner cuffs to keep you comfortable and dry, whatever the weather.

“… a high-quality water and wind-resistant jacket that's ideal for tackling any sort of weather you're likely to encounter on a winter ride. It could be the last jacket you'll ever need to buy.”
★★★★☆ David Arthur,

  • Waterproof and wind-resistant with comfortable stretch
  • Highly breathable fabric regulates temperature during hard efforts
  • Taped internal seams to keep out the worst of the weather
  • Concealed front pocket
  • Debossed logo on sleeve
  • Drainage holes in rear pockets

Polartec® Power Shield Pro®:

  • 90% polyester
  • 10% elastane

  • Machine wash 30°C
  • Tumble dry low
  • Do not iron
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not dry clean

Body sizing

Chest: measure underneath the armpits with the tape measure straight around.
Back Length: measure from the bottom of where your collar sits/base of the neck to the bottom of your spine.
Arm length: measure from where the seam would start at shoulder to bottom of the wrist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous cold weather jacket. As the temperature has dipped in the Pennines recently, this jacket has come out of the wardrobe. On cold, windy & wet days it has kept me warm, dry and comfortable on the bike. Only needed a base layer underneath so far, but as winter creeps on I'm sure that adding extra under layers will prove equally successful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job well. Had this for a couple of weeks, I am impressed with the quality, sizing and features. My only gripe would be that Rapha tops have high rear pockets, I struggle to reach into them. Otherwise fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A jacket that delivers I bought this a month ago to mainly use for commuting. I wanted a jacket that was warm, waterproof and breathable. It has delivered on all these elements and is very stylish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good and comfortable The jacket fitted perfectly as have my previous Rapha kit. Good design and very comfortable. Haven’t been soaked since yet by the winter rain but it has kept me warm and comfortable in the wind and recent colder weekend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect winter jacket! Windproof, waterproof, warm and breathable. What more do you want?! Been using this with only a base layer underneath which keeps me comfortable in temperatures from below zero to 10-12 degrees. For warmer temperatures I think the jacket will get to warm though..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faboulous in the cold I bought this as another jacket for convincing myself to ride more in the cold weather. I also went for the chartreuse for the high vis aspect as my rides here in winter start in the dark and continue for around 45 - 60 minutes before good light. I was trying to get back into more riding after some time off due to surgery and the jacket was a way of convincing (shaming?) myself to get up and go! The jacket was great and I could vary the layers easily from a straight long sleeved base layer on some days or add another short sleeve base layer or even a long sleeve jersey for the zero degrees days. only issue i had was with all those layers and me putting on a bit of beef while off the bike the rear pockets were hard to get into. unzipping helped and the situation has got better the more kms I have done! Very happy with the purchase and the motivation it encouraged and the comfort it provided.

From an appearance and cut standpoint how does the classic winter jacket compare with the classic soft / hardshell jackets ? What I like about the classic soft shell is that it can be worn off the bike as a casual jacket as it has a longer frontal area.TY

Asked by: Sp3ctre
Hi, The Classic Winter Jacket is a new version of the older Softshell, so if you were a fan of that we are certain you will like this one just as much. This jacket looks good on and off the bike, it has a smart tailored look that is under stated and subtle.

Has this version changed in any way from last years model, the Tri-color SE version specifically.  Thinking fit or tightness in upper arms/shoulders when reaching to bars.

Asked by: Jake F
The fit of the Jacket has not changed. If you have found the jacket tight across the upper body, have you tried the next size up that will have more room in this area?

Does the jacket include the fluorescent drop down at the rear?

Asked by: Sonick
All of the Classic Winter Jackets feature the drop tail feature in Hi Vis Pink. It is contained within a zip panel on the rear hem of the Jacket

does it fit into a jersey pocket?

Asked by: monobedoya
This Jacket would not fold up into a Jersey pocket. It is designed as a adverse weather Jacket, not as a packable jacket to be folded into a smaller storage space

For 'Windproofness' - how would the jacket compare with a typical Gore 'Windstopper' garment, about the same, better or less?

Asked by: Velorider
The Powershield membrane is wind and waterproof. This Jacket will repel all wind when riding.

Hi, my size is between Medium and Large. I have a Winter Jersey size L but little bit big. And I have a Club jersey size L and is this perfect for me. What size do you recommended? Thank you

Asked by: sife71
If you normally wear a Large, we would recommend this as the fit of this Jacket is more tailored than these older Jerseys and would suit your preferred fit more

Hi - can you please confirm if this jacket is waterproof or just highly water resistant? The product description advises it is waterproof but on reading the Q&A's it appears it is only [highly] water resistant!?!

Asked by: LePet
This garment is fully Waterproof. However, you should re-proof the garment regularly to keep its waterproof properties.

Is this jersey suitable for a standard Cornish winter 5-13? Or would it be too warm in these temperatures?

Asked by: Himatt68
This jacket is designed for winter riding but as we all regulate temperature differently it is hard to advice on the temperature range for individuals and differing exertion levels will also affect its properties.
