Lightweight, packable, weather-resistant insulation

Long-distance riders can encounter a full range of weather conditions, so a lightweight layer that is both warm and packable is essential. The Brevet Insulated Jacket provides exceptional warmth, while highly breathable Polartec® Alpha® insulation ensures you won’t overheat during harder efforts. Extensively tested across a range of conditions: from the Transcontinental race across Europe, to the cold summits of Australia’s snowy mountains.

This versatile jacket is made for days when the weather is hard to predict. The fast-drying and hydrophobic properties of Polartec® Alpha® mean the jacket won’t hold water like natural down insulation and with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating you can watch the rain roll off.

Soft, brushed jersey side panels add warmth and allow the jacket to stretch over full pockets, while reflective detailing increases visibility in low light. When not in use the jacket rolls up neatly, secured by an elasticated loop at the neck.

Karen Whittier, product manager for insulation at Polartec, explains the science behind Polartec® Alpha®:

Polartec® Alpha® was engineered as an active insulation to regulate core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This ‘adaptive’ breathability helps to eliminate the need for shedding or adding layers while on the move, making it ideal for cycling.

By keeping moisture vapour moving freely through the fabric, it increases overall air exchange and drastically speeds up dry times, providing thermal regulated comfort. Polartec® Alpha® is also highly compressible, made with a stable core that prevents ‘fibre migration’ to keep a uniform consistency, even after heavy wear and repeated laundering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent multi-condition and versatile jacket. This is a great jacket for both on and off the bike. The fit is expected, slightly racier, but ample coverage in the sleeves and rear. It dries quickly from sweat or light rain and incredibly packable. It has decent wind resistance but it's not impermeable. Same goes for rain, it's not water proof but does have some light rain resistance. These aren't negatives, just something to know about the material. What I really like about it is it's off the bike versatility, perfect to layer underneath another jacket very similar to a down vest or jacket for capturing extra warmth. Wears well in that scenario as well as warm layer for the winter. Overall, the jacket is great as a Spring/Fall/Winter addition that is very comfortable to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth for active pursuits Bought this as a winter layer. Keeps core and fronts of arms toasty. The undersides of the sleeves, sides and back are all well ventelated allowing heat to escape. Also, as an aside, I used the Brevet Insulated Jacket on a recent 4 day backpacking trip in cooler climes. The jacket's shorter length worked perfectly with the hip belt of the pack; lots of cross over to both pursuits perfectly. Finally looks really sharp!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toasty and Comfy toasty warm comfy kit.... i wore it on a frosty morning -1c with only riding jersey and it was good. Have only had it for a week with a couple of rides deep, as its spring now here in NZ it may not get much more use over the coming months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from perfect design quality it's too warm to use right now, but the quality and styling are great, and I know I will get great usage. I'll update once I have used it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Delicate and awkward fit This jacket was all wrong in many ways. Sleeves were so long and the chest was too tight compared to all other Rapha products. It also was a very thin material. Great for packing light, but not good for a workhorse jersey. They insulated front and screened back near the waste was also very confusing. I very weird jacket.
