Waterproof wool coat with removable insulated gilet

The perfect garment for life in the city, the Wool Coat combines fine tailoring with functional features to protect you from the elements. The outer fabric, woven in Switzerland, is a three layer laminated wool blend, bonded to a waterproof breathable membrane for all-weather protection.

With a removable insulated gilet, this coat is ideal for a wide range of temperatures, right through the seasons. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish and waterproof membrane in the fabric provides protection in rain showers, and fully taped seams keep out the worst of the weather in heavier downpours. An AquaGuard® zip at the front of the coat protects against head-on rain.

A snap closure vent on the rear hem creates an opening at the back, so that the coat can be worn comfortably on a town or commuter bike. A reflective strip concealed within the vent offers an element of visibility when open.

  • Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish on the face of the fabric provides protection from the rain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from stealth bike wear for everyday I been looking for a coat with a zip-out vest for a little bit of warmth in spring, fall, early winter and rainy days without the vest in summer. I use it all the time to go to work or on weekends. Its a great coat. Can easily fool people into believing its a basic trench coat but when you touch the fabric it feels very high tech - perfect! My favorite features are the two way zippers so when I get in a car it wont cinch up when I sit down. The zipper side pockets are great. There's lots of little touches. The pink strip to hang you jacket is the only thing that give away its a piece of rapha kit. that and the very subtle left arm band in matching material and color. overall quality is very high. Usually i'm between a mdeium and a large. This time the medium worked out great. EWven looks great with a transfer jacket under it. Improvements would be to have one inner pocket somewhere in the front (maybe even in the vest), and longer pull tabs on the side pocket so its easier to open/close pockets. right now they get stuck in the nook of the zipper and pocket. My wife said it looked very stylish when we were going to see family over thanksgiving. It seemed pretty pricey but after shopping around, its not a bad deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite everyday coat Using it for a few months now and I'm really impressed - light, comfortable, no sign of wear. I'm 190cm/87kg and L fits perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing construction I bought this two weeks ago and have worn no other coat since! It’s fairly lightweight though, even with the gilet, so not an out and out winter coat, but massively versatile for smart or casual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing jacket ! Beautifully made jacket oozing with style. I'm 5'8 slim build and a small is perfect with room for layers. I wear the jacket casually and for work so best of both!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic quality and style. My first ever Rapha purchase and I initially ordered a Medium which came up a little small on me. a hassle free return/ exchange for a size Large and I'm very happy with my purchase. I was looking for a new smart/ casual rain coat and wanted something a little different, something that you don't see everyday. While the the cheapest coat, the quality really is superb. I've worn it on a couple of cold days with just a shirt on and its been comfortable and warm. The taped seams are finished to the highest standard that I've seen on any waterproof jacket so while I've not worn it while it's raining yet, I have no doubt that it will be waterproof. Looks great when worn with smart clothes to work and equally as good worn casually with a pair of jeans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Wool Coat - style and practicality" I've recently bought this will coat and it's much more than just a common-o'-garden coat. It's much more of a technical garment than Rapha would have you believe and it features a very good and understated style. It has a detachable lining, but the whole item is beautifully crafted. On a practical level, the coat can be worn to a meeting, yet be useful on 2 wheels, over several seasons of the year. The external pockets are zippable and deep enough to foil the all-too-common thieves that seem to pervade our cities these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peferct 3 season coat Great style and fit to it. First time I used it was on a business trip to Chicago in April and I stayed warm exploring downtown in it. The Dark Navy is also the perfect color! Loved the surprised hidden pocket on the back of the coat. The best thing about Rapha clothing is you're always finding some new feature to the product.

Does this jacket have a collar that does up around the neck to protect in rain? Similar to the shorter wool jacket.

Asked by: Peas
Hi, this coat does fasten around the neck, you can also flip the collar up for colder and rainy days, it also has a removable insulated gilet for colder days on the bike and the gilet can be worn on its own.

Hi, can You specify the pockets?

Asked by: Nyph
There are two pockets, one on each side at hip level and they are quite big pockets. There are no inside or on the back of the garment.

What temperature range is this jacket suitable for?

Asked by: Luke__
Hi, it is difficult to advise as the range for a city jacket is subjective. However, this jacket is a three season garment and is designed for use in the autumn, winter and spring. It also comes with a detachable gilet to extend the temperature range.

All my rapha jackets are medium and great but close fit.  Would be looking to sometimes wear a jacket under this coat.  Does that suggest I should large ??

Asked by: dyes
Hi, this jacket has a similar fit to our other jackets and so we would normally recommend you order a medium. It does also have an included gilet to keep you warm but if you wish to wear a thick jacket underneath, it may be a good idea to size up to a large.
