Fifty years ago this September, Jean Pierre Monseré became the second youngest world champion ever. More than a match for Merckx and Maertens – his Belgian peers of the time – Monseré looked set for an outstanding career before his life was tragically cut short. Designed in tandem with our limited edition Belgian jersey, this cotton twill cap honours all that Monseré achieved in his brief but hugely successful career.
With a traditional quartered design, the cap is inspired by those worn by Monseré and his Flandria teammates, with main sections coloured red and white and a redesigned, narrow brim that bears the name of his hometown and an embroidered logo on its underside. The embroidered decals on the side panels nod to Roselare’s characteristic cross and the race number Monseré wore to world championship glory. Inside, the cap is fully lined for comfort, extra warmth and added rigidity that allows you to wear it 70s style – with maximum luft.
