Full-fingered racing glove for superlative protection

When the hands get cold and wet, riders encounter all sorts of problems: they don’t eat frequently enough, braking and changing gear is a challenge, and they spend more time worrying about their body temperature than their ride or race. The Pro Team Softshell Gloves use the same fabric as the Pro Team Softshell Jacket, a feature which, combined with a minimal construction, ensure the hands stay comfortable in bad weather.

A perforated synthetic palm, modelled on the Pro Team Mitts, provides great control of the bike, and the fit gives great dexterity for taking food from pockets. The fingertips are compatible with touchscreen devices, meaning riders can use phones and cycle computers without removing their gloves. The long cuffs prevent exposed skin below jacket cuffs.

The softshell fabric has been proven by its use in the Pro Team Softshell Jacket. It protects the skin against the elements while still allowing sweat to escape and giving a comfortable feeling against the skin. The contoured fit keeps seams away from the fingers, improving comfort. The gloves are finished with reflective logos and brushed-back fabric wipes on the tops of the thumbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A friend told me to get these gloves and I'm glad! Perfect gloves for 40° to 50°F; not too warm but warmer than daily bike gloves. Yesterday was able to take a photo with my iPhone with gloves on, proving mobile phone compatibility. The only tiny negative is that the cuff is pretty long -- more appropriate for a sub-40° glove -- so at 45°, it gets pretty sweaty there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves I recently purchased these gloves and have worn them several times in the low 40’s temperature. My hand are always cold but very pleased to say Rapha kept me warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves Rapha gloves are made very well and these are no exception. Fit is great and makes for a nice intermediate glove. There's enough wiggle room for a glove liner if need be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thin and warm I’ve not woken gloves for a while as lived in TX and did some Tri’s but now im in the PNW its time to don the gloves. These have worked out great as they’re nice and thin but still keep you warm. They go up high on my wrist so I can tuck jerseys inside or over plus the grip is not restrictive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth with dexterity I love these gloves because they're somehow excellent in dry, wet, cool, and cooler conditions. They're so well rounded, I use them all fall, spring, and some in the winter too (Portland, OR, USA). One of the best things about them is that they're super flexible and give your hand really good dexterity for braking and shifting. I highly recommend these. They'll be a staple of your wardrobe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice winter gloves Nice thinner material gloves for fall, early spring or light winter riding. I run an XL in the normal pro team mits and these seem to be cut a bit bigger overall in the same XL size. I really like the feel or riding in them when it gets clold its about like a full finger mountain bike gloves. there easy to get on and off and stay really dry in damp weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves! These tick a few boxes for me. They're not bulky and maintain feel, arent padded on the palm either. Devices work through the fingertips. Nice pads on the back of the hands for nose/face duties. Long cuff to tuck into sleeves. Thin enough to go under a looser pair of gloves. Good for dry temps down to about 4 degrees. Not waterproof but do a pretty OK job in a shower whilst maintaining wind block. I would buy these again.

I have the XS pro team mitts and they fit well, would the XS or S size pro team softshell gloves be more appropriate?

Asked by: Michael_
We recommend that you use the same size as your Pro Team Mitts unless you intend to wear a merino Liner underneath for additional warmth

Are these supposed to be waterproof? Or waterrepellent? Been using them for a while and they fit well, but after half a day in the rain and wind my hands were wet and cold.

Asked by: StevenH
Hi, the gloves are windproof and water-resistant, the fabric is waterproof, but the seams are too close together to be fully taped, therefore they are classified as water-resistant and not water-proof.

Do these have the same fit and shape than the Merino gloves?I am looking for long fingers gloves, I tried the merinos but the fingers are a bit short for me and the glove fits a bit wide. On the other hand I have the GT gloves and they fit perfect.

Asked by: FBGX
Hi, these gloves have a closer fit than the Merino Gloves and the fingers have slightly more give. As always, we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.

What temperature range are these gloves suitable for? Which gloves will you recommend for temperatures from +5° to - 5°?

Asked by: akhm
Hi, it is hard to give an exact range as everyone's hands need varying levels of protection to stay warm. However, these gloves are designed for use between about 1-10 degrees celsius. For very cold temperatures, significantly below 0 degrees celsius, we recommend using the Deep Winter Gloves. A liner can also be used under these for additional protection.

Looking for some winter gloves for between 0 -10 Celsius, what is the difference between these softshell and the winter gloves for £85? Which is better for dexterity? Both same warmth?

Asked by: Dedwar49
The Pro Team Softshell Gloves are thinner which have very good dexterity whilst providing a lot of warmth for their bulk. The Winter Gloves are a bit warmer and still have good dexterity, but are slightly bulkier.

Are the Merino liners able to fit underneath these gloves?

Asked by: JT22
Hi, the Merino Liner is not designed to fit under these gloves. These gloves have a slim fit to avoid the normal bulky feel you often have with winter gloves.

There are some complaints about the seams when I'm reading through the review section, has there been a re-design regarding the seams?

Asked by: bob_z
Hi, we have made a few changes to the Pro Team Softshell Gloves. The seam at the base of the thumb has now been removed to prevent any rubbing on the palms. We have also re-designed the top stitching to make this more durable.
