Developed for Team Sky’s Classics specialists

If the thought of freezing wet hands on a long day in the rain is enough to put you off getting out the door, consider the Pro Team Neoprene Gloves, Rapha’s latest innovation in hand protection.

Racers know that trying to keep hands dry when riding in the rain is a losing battle – even the bulkiest gloves only stay dry for a couple of hours, and the extra layers of insulation and water-proofing can compromise handling skills and make it nearly impossible to eat. The Pro Team Neoprene Gloves solve this problem.

Inspired by wetsuits, the neoprene and merino construct traps a small amount of water close to the skin while blocking out the cold and wind. This makes for a thin, comfortable glove with great dexterity and warmth, perfect for racing – they are used by Team Sky during the Belgian Classics – and training in the rain.

Neoprene used against the skin tends to lead to an uncomfortable and clammy feeling, so these gloves are lined with fine merino wool. Merino can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet to the touch – synthetic fabrics typically feel wet after absorbing only 2-3% of their weight – meaning that the lining feels dry for longer. As well as adding comfort, the lining is naturally anti-bacterial.

The palms of the gloves are cut from 2mm-thick neoprene, allowing for better control of the bars and shifters, with a 3mm-thick back panel for extra protection against the wind and cold weather. To prevent water ingress, the seams are constructed with a ‘blind stitch’ that doesn’t fully penetrate the material, and are then filled with insoluble glue.

Due to their low-profile compared to other foul-weather gloves, the Pro Team Neoprene Gloves can easily be stored in a jersey pocket, making them a great just-in-case option on changeable days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rapha Pro Team Neoprene Gloves These gloves fit the hand really well, and you do have good dexterity . I went by Rapha's glove fitment chart and the sizing is spot on. They keep the hands warm on that cool fall ride....plus I love the grip on the palm of the glove. The main thing is they are a functional piece to my cycling wardrobe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Hands A couple of wet rides in 9-11 degree temperature. Hands stayed warm and dry, during the second slightly warmer ride my hands were a little sweaty but then thats to be expected. Will be interested to see how they fair at lower temperatures. The chain link detailing on the palms seems to be to prevent wear rather than add grip as so far it seems to be slippy when holding bottles...doesn’t make the hoods/barsngreasy though Overall pleased with purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indespensible! I have three pairs of these and just ordered a fourth pair. These are my "go to" gloves for wet or dry cool/cold weather. These excel for me at temperatures between 40 to 50 degrees F, wet or not wet, without liners. Rapha merino liners can easily bring down the temperature range to freezing. They hold dexterity in cold and wet conditions and the bar grip is excellent. The are actually warmer in wet conditions as they work similar to a wet suit. The only downside is that they can take while to hang dry which is why I have multiple pairs for use on back to back wet days (and out of fear that they could be discontinued).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, elegant, comfortable. Surprisingly comfortable, with a good grip on smooth surfaces. Simple and elegant cut. Not sure about how long will they last, a wild guess would be two seasons of careful use. (No handling of sharp objects e.g. keys or locks). Definitely worth trying out.

What is the temperature range for this glove?

Asked by: Clifftheif
These gloves are used at lower temperatures than would be expected. They are comfortable in temperatures as low as minus 5 Celcius and use body warmth to keep the hands warm. These Gloves were used by Team Sky during the Winter and Spring Classics of Northern Europe

Should these gloves be a snug or loose fit?

Asked by: Lenski
Hi, these gloves should fit snugly. In wet conditions they will trap a layer of water close to your skin to keep you warm.

Is this too thick to use as an inner-layer for your overmitt? I'm wearing large size overmitt and usually same size for inner-layer.

Asked by: Ikko
Hi, these gloves would fit under the Overmitt, although this would be a snug fit.

Hi, can you use a touch screen while wearing these gloves?

Asked by: unvert
Hi, these gloves are not designed to be used with a touch screen. In conditions you would wear these gloves, you would most likely not want to use your phone.
