Long live Liège!
“The approach. The view. The challenge that lies ahead. The only way is up...” – Matt Blease, illustrator.
‘La Doyenne’, or ‘The Old Lady’, is the longest running of the Spring Classics, dating back to 1892. The route traverses the forested hills of the Belgian Ardennes, and is renowned for its repeated, steep climbs. This special edition 100% cotton t-shirt is part of a new series that celebrates the world’s greatest races with playful illustrations by Matt Blease, himself a cyclist. On this tee, Blease’s drawing has been printed onto the chest using flocking, a technique traditionally used to embellish cycling jerseys in the mid-20th century. The t-shirt features an inset Rapha armband and a small Belgian flag stitched onto the hem. A small story label about the race has also been included on the rear.
