Finding a reliable solution for how to keep feet dry and warm while cycling through winter has long been a challenge. We’ve seen it all: double socks, tin foil, cling film, hand warmers, full on winter boots. Cold extremities can derail a ride quickly due to discomfort or the downright dangerous sensation of having bricks for feet. The solution needn’t be complicated. One well-constructed, well articulated and easy fitting option should be all you need to protect your toes from even the worst that winter can throw at them.
Our new collection of waterproof neoprene shoe covers and cycling toe covers are introducing a completely overhauled approach to overshoes. Engineered through meticulous material curation and validated through rigorous testing, they are built to restore absolute confidence in your winter footwear setup.

Low-Profile Silhouette
By using high-stretch, form-fitting neoprene, we have eliminated bulk around the ankle and instep. This shape follows the contours of modern road shoes. This smooth surface yields an engaged fit and clean aesthetic without compromising thermal insulation.
Advanced Thermal Management
Neoprene functions by trapping a thin layer of air within its micro-cellular structure. In the Winter Overshoes, a 3mm neoprene body overfoot is lined with a high-loft, C0 DWR-treated jacquard fleece. This traps body heat while repelling external moisture, keeping your feet both warm and dry on the coldest rides. To maintain freedom of movement around the entire pedal stroke, the cuff uses a slightly thinner 2mm brushed-back neoprene. The Rapha Overshoes and Toe Covers feature a 2mm brushed-back neoprene construction throughout, striking a balance between insulation and weight for milder conditions.
Reinforced Underfoot Durability
Unclipping and walking in cleats can cause wear. Our Overshoes and Toe Covers feature a secondary, hard-wearing material across the underside of the foot. This high-density panel withstands repeated ground contact, extending product longevity over multiple winter seasons.
Extended Ankle Coverage & Security
The Winter Overshoes feature a high cuff, designed to sit securely over your bib tights. Printed internal silicone grippers line the top hem to lock the cuff in place, preventing slippage or water ingress from above. Subtle reflective striping down the rear seam combined with reflective branding ensures visibility during low-light winter training miles.

STEP-BY-STEP FITMENT GUIDE
To put our new neoprene Overshoes on, we’ve come up with a specific sequence to ensure it’s quick, easy and avoids accidental damage. Traditional overshoe designs are often pulled forcefully over a fitted shoe, which strains the seams, distorts the fit and damages the underfoot material. Follow this step-by-step method to ensure an optimal fit and prevent premature wear.
1. Prep and foot first
Completely undo the Velcro closure on the underside of the overshoe. Slide your foot through the ankle opening and pull the overshoe up onto your calf, above your ankle — don't put your shoes on yet.
2. Shoes on, then pull into position
Put your road shoes on as normal. Pull the overshoe down over your shoe, starting at the toe box and stretching it back over the heel.
3. Align cleat and heel cutouts
Secure the Velcro closure underneath the shoe, then check the underside: The cleat opening should sit fully clear of your cleat — no neoprene overlapping the engagement points. The heel pad should protrude fully through the heel opening, so your shoe (not the overshoe fabric) contacts the ground when walking.
4. Adjust the cuff
Position the silicone-printed cuff smoothly against your leg or over your bib tights to seal out wind and road spray.

HOW TO WEAR TOE COVERS
For rides in intermediate conditions, Rapha Toe Covers provide a lightweight alternative.
Slip the Cover Over Your Toe Box
Slide the high-stretch 2mm neoprene cover over the front toe box of your road shoe before clipping in.
Position the Cutout Around Your Cleat
Ensure the bottom cutout rests behind your front road cleat, allowing full pedal engagement without pinching the material.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber matrix containing millions of microscopic gas bubbles. Proper care preserves the material's elasticity, prevents seam failure and stops bacterial buildup.
Wipe Clean First:
After dirty winter rides, use a damp cloth or warm sponge to remove surface mud, grit and road grime.
Hand Wash Only:
Wash your neoprene products by hand in cold water (maximum 30°C). Use a small amount of mild liquid detergent.
Fasten Velcro:
Always secure the technical Velcro tabs prior to washing to prevent the hook elements from snagging adjacent fabrics.
Do Not Machine Wash:
Avoid washing machines; aggressive spin cycles can tear sealed neoprene seams.
Do Not Use Chemicals:
Avoid fabric softeners, stain removers or bleach. These chemicals breakdown the neoprene polymer bond and strip the C0 DWR coating on the fleece lining of the thermal overshoes for road bikes.

DRYING AND STORAGE
Air Dry In The Shade:
Hang your overshoes or toe covers to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid Direct Heat:
Keep away from radiators, open flames or direct sunlight. High heat damages the neoprene structure, causing it to harden, crack and lose its stretch.
Do Not Tumble Dry or Iron:
Extreme heat will melt the internal bond and ruin the silicone cuff grippers.
Store Flat or Suspended:
Ensure garments are completely dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct UV light to preserve the rubber matrix over the off-season.
